Recognition of foreign qualifications in Brazil

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Were your professional qualifications recognised in Brazil? What country did you complete your qualifications in? What profession are you in?

Did you have to go through any formalities to get your qualifications recognised, such as to have them translated?

If your qualifications weren't recognised, were there any additional tests or exams you had to complete before you were able to practice your profession in Brazil or continue with your studies?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I've taught English at 3 schools in São Paulo. Two of them required me to take a test and they used that to determine how much they were going to pay me, not whether or not they were going to hire me.

I've got a friend who got his electrical engineering degree in Lebanon and he had to go through a number of written and oral exams before he could start the process of his carteira de trabalho. Before he could take those exams, he had to take Portuguese language classes because all the tests were in Portuguese.

Yes, my diploma from the University of Antwerp was recognized in Brazil. It had to be translated and "legalized" by the Ministery in Belgium.
Moreover, a Master's degree is a sufficient condition to obtain a working visa in Brazil.

If you have U.S. K-12 teaching credentials, there are several English language education programs in Brazil that would recognize your license. These are, of course, non-governmental schools with almost all instruction in English.
