I've seen some at Saigon Outcast Sunday Markets. Anyone know websites or contact info? Looking for reasonably priced vintage-ish hand-made dresses. Thanks

I don't know what kind of dresses you have in mind, but if you have a photo, simply show it to any competent tailor or seamstress.  I bet s/he can duplicate the style easily.  Custom-made clothing is not at all expensive in Vietnam.

Seeing that you live in Japan, it may pose some difficulty, but since most tailors/seamstresses can make a garment in a few days' time, a short trip to Saigon would be sufficient to achieve your goal.

Um thanks. I was looking for someone already doing this. I don't want to deal with a local seamstress rather I'm looking for some expats or locals who work with special fabrics and such already. Outcast had some on display once but I missed the last Sunday market and need it before the next I think.

There may be a boutique somewhere in D1 but I'm not looking to spend a 1000$. :(

Again, without the description of the dresses you saw at Outcast, it's impossible to come up with the name of a person with experience in that particular style.  The terms "vintage-ish" and "special fabrics" that you used did not pin down an image in my mind.

My mother's handmade spun silk clothing were some of the typical garments worn in the late 19th/early 20th century.  Many of my tailored linen or raw silk sheath dresses were classic in the '50s and '60s and are still classic today.  XQ hand-embroidered mulberry silk clothing for men and women are reminiscence of bygone time.  Which one of those is vintage and special fabric in your definition?  In mine, they all are.

Thus, my mention of local tailors/seamstresses.  There are many tailors/seamstresses who are very good at creating/duplicating everything from a photo, be it an everyday outfit or a gown for a black tie event.

A great number of Vietnamese, even the not well-to-do, grew up wearing custom-made clothing and shoes, so talented tailors/seamstresses/shoemakers have been pop and mainstay of life here as long as I live.

Right. It's too general. Sorry. I need to describe something better. I have something specific in mind but how to describe it...
