Need HELP!2bedroom apartment for rent

Post new topic

bunnywabbit

Hi all,
My husband and I, we're relocating to Bucharest in a couple of weeks, we'll need furnished 2 bedrooms apartment in the area close to Calea Dorobanti. Our range of price is within €300-500/month. My husband company has informed that it's possible to get the apartment within the price range. If there's anyone who could email me some details and pictures it would be highly appreciated.

I was wondering how much is the price for a packet of cigarettes? and how's the non smoking area regulation in there, since both of us are smokers.

Thanks a bunch for your help ^_^

I've just taken a look at some of the classifieds in Romanian and seen three-room (i.e. two-bedroom) apartments in that area ranging from about 500 up to 1000+ Euro per month. I think 300 Euro is probably a little optimistic. It's possible that your employer misunderstood two-bedroom apartment for two-room apartment as here in Romania they generally categorize apartments according to the number of rooms (i.e. bedrooms and reception rooms) rather than by the number of bedrooms. I think a 300-Euro 2-bedroom apartment in that area (which is known to be expensive) would be a little shabby, to say the least.

I did spot one two-bedroomed place for 500 Euro here:

It's in Aviatorilor, which is an area at the northern end of Dorobanti. And this one for 600 Euro:

As Tommideast mentions in his post on another thread, there are lots of 'agents' and/or other 'helpful' people who try to rent out to expats knowing they can get 50% or more on the regular prices. Scan the various expat forums and you'll see lots of people advertising their apartments, but at rents well above the city norms.

Cigarettes cost about 10-15 RON (around 3 Euro) per pack of 20 here, depending on where you buy them and the brand (Marlboro Lights, for example, are around 12 RON (2.5 Euro) in a regular supermarket). You can pretty much smoke anywhere. Pubs, bars and restaurants are rarely no-smoking, although they might have a no-smoking area. Most biggish companies will have a no-smoking policy in their offices, though. They'll have a smokers corner or a yard if so. Smaller or privately-owned firms may or may not be smoker-friendly, mostly depending on whether the boss smokes or not.

Thanks for the info Maykal,
And about the smoking habit, it sounds great that there's no such smoking ban in pubs or restaurant.
I might give you more questions by the time we arrive in Bucharest :(
But thank you indeed for the links - info and your time to reply :)
