Giving birth in Israel (as a non-citizen/non-resident/non-Jew)

I have dual citizenship (two western countries) and do not need a visa to visit Israel. My girlfriend is currently a Tunisian citizen but will soon also have citizenship from my country. I would like us to visit Israel and would love for her to give birth to our child there, ideally in the Golan Heights.

Could someone explain to me the costs associated with giving birth in Israel, if we have neither residency nor citizenship in Israel? I read somewhere that giving birth in Israel is completely free? Is this true, or do we need to purchase some insurance? I would rather have my child born in Israel than in the UK

Is it true that Israel no longer issues birth certificates to non-citizens? Would I be able to take their handwritten note to the British embassy and get a British birth certificate?

Thanks guys,

Medical treatments are "free" for people paying the National Insurance.

Your wife, as a tourist, will not be covered.

There are of course private hospitals but you will have to pay the costs involved
