Hi Lea, the place looks good, but unfortunately they do not entertain walk in. Reservation is necessary, the staff told me it has to be made 2 weeks in advanced, and they charge per headcount with fixed package of beverage and snacks. So not really a good place to have our get-together, but still, thanks for suggesting :)We switched to Barbarosa afterward.

Hi all, like Hans said, the next get-together would be May 28. We will need to decide where to have it. I am thinking of Boxing Cat Brewery @ Sinan Mansion

if u guys play pool, RACKS is a great place. they serve food and games as well. Jinxian Lu near Shaanxi nanlu. One of my fave spots.

The coming get-together will be on this Saturday 8pm, 28 May at Boxing Cat Brewery, located in Sinan Mansion along Fuxing West Road

Here is the direction: if you take subway, go to Xintiandi of line 10, get out from exit 6, turn right then u will see Fuxing Road in front of u. Walk west all the way for about 15mins, you will need to pass through a cross junction with overhead highway, then you'll reach Sinan Mansion, walk a little further along the road and bingo, u will see Boxing Cat Brewery on your left. I've made reservation under the name of Vincent.

Welcome to Shanghai, and it is great to know that we are going to have new friends joining us. We always welcome new blood

The initial plan for next get-together would be 11-Jun, 8pm. I will be flying off to Tianjin this week and station there for the next 4 months. Anyway, I think the other members would keep this get-together going and alive.

Do keep an eye on this thread for further update. Hope you enjoy your stay in Shanghai, and I am sure you will get to know a lot of good people in the get-together. Cheers

Since both Hans and Vincent won't be attending the get-together next Saturday, and I have been to all the meetings since the first one, I think now it's become a bit of my responsibility to try to keep this thing going!

I would like to suggest to have next get-together on Saturday 11th of June, 20:00 o' clock, at:

Captain's Bar
37 Fuzhou Lu, 6th Floor of Captain's Hostel

near the Bund, Metro Line 2 Nanjing Dong Lu Station

I know this isn't the most original place to meet since we have had a couple of get-togethers there before, but I think this bar is really suitable for this type of meetings: Enough space to sit, low noise so you don't have to shout, reasonable prices and a big terrace with nice view of the Bund.

I hope to see you all there, especially the new members!

Is it illegal to do flash mobs? Given we're not protesting anything. I'm not suggesting riding the Metro pantsless but maybe that's something cool we could do. Not for this meetup but in future.

@Tonality: I see flash mobs every morning here in Shanghai performing some kind of weird Tai Chi act in their pyjama's... looks a bit silly to me, to be honest.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed because nobody turned up.

I was lucky that I brought a friend, otherwise I would have been waiting all by myself the whole evening...

Yes.. if the date and time is right.. i will join and probably with my 2 other girl friends too.. so tht would make 4 of us...

i was there, but i don't see a group of ppl as well, maybe next time we should figure out a way to help us better identify the group, it will be a great help for newbies like me.

Hi, just landed today ... 6 hours delay but what the heck, i survived.

So...some of us r mentioning a meetup this Friday? If that's the case I'm willing to combine both and have our gettogether on Friday instead of on Saturday. Just depends on how many people r in.

Opps Barend, that's bad. I understand how frustrating it is, especially when we have people committed to come to the get-together but just don show up.

Anyway, good to see that more and more new members posting here and showing interest to join. For the last get-together we put up in end of May I actually posted it onto Shanghai stuff too, in the "saturday event" group. Probably we shall be doing this moving forward as this forum is not really active.

Worst come to worst, in the end of the day we will still have 3 hardcore members. Barend, Hans and me. Well, we started it we stay with it Anyway I think that hardly will be the case. I am sure the next get-together will be much better..how i wish i could join. Enjoy it..
