Yeah Matt, if u propose a competition, at least tell us what the prize is And don't tell me it's a pineapple
Hi everyone, I'm new to Shanghai (from London) and would love to meet up with people and form a bit of a 'network' here in my new home town! I've taken down the details of the gathering on Sunday and hope to see people there. I may be a little bit late but I'm sure a lazy Sunday afternoon won't be drawn to a close too rapidly.
The Ap ero Caprice gathering also sounds interesting, so I'll check back for details of that, although my access to internet at the moment is somewhat intermittent..

Hi Chloe,
welcome aboard
No prob if u would be arriving late on Sunday.
If u think u'd need help finding the place feel free to PM me for my contact details, as Tianzifang is a bit of a labyrinth
Hi everyone, my name is Luna, I am from Italy and I live in Shanghai, study at the Shanghai Uni(PhD). It would be great for me if one of these days I could join you for a coffe... Bye Bye

The winners will get ... well, let's keep it a surprise ...
The last ones will win a durian ;-)
Thanks for the organization, Hans ...
Great to see so many people and have this lazy afternoon ...
No idea when Hans will launch the next one, but FYI, the September "Apéro Caprice" will take place on September 29th ... No location yet ... Updates at the end of the week or beginning of next week ...
I had a BLAST...too bad for those who couldn't stay for the second part of the afternoon/evening, cuz the 'fysiological' uhm part was just hilarious.
I think a Sunday afternoon/evening is actually also a better timing than the Saturday evenings on which we originally planned our events, so let's keep it that way for now.
There's an extended weekend coming up, would be great if anyone has some suggestions. Just post them here...I never visited the Moganshan Lu area, so if anyone's up for that or has some good pointers about that area...much interested to hear them
NB; Matt, I've pencilled the next Apero cAprice in my agenda, keep us posted if u have more details.
There are a lot of artists and art galleries at 50, Moganshan Lu. It's a nice place.
I found the perfect activity for this weekend! A friend of mine is organizing a 'Culture & Cafe' walking tour in the French Concession this Saturday...the ideal combination between culture and uhm bars
Date: Saturday, Sept 10th
Starting Point: 849 Huashan Lu, near Fuxing Xi Lu
Starting Time: 2pm
Wear comfy shoes and bring ur camera. On the way there are enough Café's where we can have a small rest.
See you all there!
NB: closest subway stops are Jiangsu Rd (line 2 / 11); Changsu Rd (line 1 / 7) and Shanghai Library (Line 10)
Me toooooo!!!!!
Bah! I'm totally going to miss out this Saturday! But, if anyone is interested, the Friday after next (the 16th of September) is Mexican independence day and I'd love to have some company to celebrate!!!! There's apparently something going on at Cantina Agave, but if anyone else knows of a good place, I'm open for suggestions. :-)
Hi EmilyV,
You should start a new topic on the Shanghai forum concerning your suggestion for 16th of September.
Thank you.

Uhm, Christine...this is the Shanghai forum and as far as i am concerned, her suggestion belongs in this topic.
I'm really keen for this Saturday but I'm working til 3pm, so I've said to Yimmy I'll have to join later. Hopefully I can call one of you guys and find out where you are. Or follow the sounds of raucousness..
Definitely up for celebrating Mexican independence day too, as I'm sure there'll be Mexican food and cocktails, both of which I greatly appreciate.
x
Excellent idea, this "Culture & Café" ...
But we won't be here unless the weather is really bad, since we will be mountain biking in Anhui or Zhejiang province ...
But definitely in for EmilyV suggestion, on September 16th
Walking tour was so nice, and good to see our number is growing!
For our next gettogether, as proposed by EmilyV, on Sept 16th at Cantina Agave: I just called the place and they are not taking any reservations for the Mexican Independence day party. Instead they work on a first-come, first-served basis....they start at 7pm, so if you want to join BE ON TIME or you are screwed
They are having an all-you-can-eat BBQ till 10pm for only 100Rmb.
So I guess the plan is to meet at the spot at 7pm.
Date: Friday, Sept 16th
Address: Cantina Agave,
A Mansion,
291 Fumin Lu,
near Changle Lu
富民路291号,
近长乐路
Subway stops in order of proximity: Changshu Rd (line 1 & 7); Shanxi South Rd (Line 1 & 10); Jing'an temple (line 2 & 7).
PM me for my phone No. in case u want to find the group.
A bit late in the day, I know.. but does anyone know of anything good to do for the moon festival this eve? I want to do something but can't seem to find anything much online..
Thanks Hansvc for taking care of the planning! I also tried to make a reservation, but no dice. I will be there this Friday at 7 ready to festejar como una mexicana (party like a Mexican)! And in the future, I will do a better job of planning events I suggest so you don't have to. :-D
wow wow wow! I missed out on all the fun:(
Maybe I join you guys this Friday depending on what time I finish work.
Hans,
Im coming but all alone
My girls aint here so guess ill join you.

BTW, what do you guys think about a little less lazy Sunday afternoon/evening and go bowling? Let me know, I hope to go coming Sunday if there is enough interest.
I would totally go bowling. I'm basically a pro... (haha, ok that's a total lie... I'm terrible, but I love to play!).
I love bowling. I'm shockingly terrible at it but love it all the same and would definately go along.
More than willing to join ...
Hope my schedule with the visit of my mother company will leave me the time ...
Ok bowling will take place from 5pm till 6pm at
Regal East Asia Hotel Bowling Club
Address:
516 Hengshan Lu, near Wuxing Lu
衡山路516号,近吴兴路
Closest subway stops in order of proximity:
Hengshan Rd (Line 1); Zhaojiabang Rd (Line 7 & 9); Shanghai Library (Line 10).
Please arrive at 4.30pm.
No worries if you haven't played yet, most of us have limited or no experience at all. See you then!
Hey Hans, count me in for Sunday. And thanks for organizing. Slowly I also get used to this (for me) new wbesite.

Hi all,
Let's have a get together this Wednesday evening at Brown Sugar in Xintiandi. We can have dinner and drinks inside. They have free Champagne for the ladies between 9:30-11:30. The plan is to meet at the spot at 7pm. It's ok if you come late.
Date: Wednesday, Sept 28th
Address: 15,181 long, Taichang Lu, near Madang Lu
太仓路181弄新天地北里15号(近马当路)
Subway stops: South Huangpi Rd (line 1); Xintiandi (line 10).
Let me know if you wanna join. Hope see you there.
Sorry for being late ... The Apero Caprice on September 29th, has been cancelled due to personnal reasons of the organiser ...
But, but, but ...
Even if it is short notice and if you want to meet people in an original way, there is another concept in town since some time ...
We meet every week at O'Malleys on Tuesday night at 19:30/20:00 around a table to play cards (in fact several tables since several games are played) ... For more info, on the games played, here are some links ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_tarothttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belotehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whist
I'll be playing the last game in the list (called "The Beard Guy" in french) ... Easy rules, lots of fun, great & different way of meeting and knowing people ...
Also, if you have any preference in games, we are also open to suggestions ... I know that some people came along to play mahjong ...
Also, since this is a weekly event, players get a special deal on drinks and 20% on the food menu ...
The location : http://www.smartshanghai.com/venue/90/OMalleys_shanghai
PS : Don't be concerned if you have never played any of those games ... Beginners are accepted and the first reason of this weekly meeting, is to have fun & meet people in a different way ...
Hoping to see you tonight (and sorry again for the late notice ...)
