Update for the JZ Festival: We will meet at 2pm in front of the Green Note Stage. Most bands starting at 1:30pm, so you will miss nothing. Please get your ticket in advance. You can buy it online as Hans wrote or go to Wooden Box, JZ Club or JZ School. For one day 150 RMB.
For all who will join the first time this festival - it is the biggest and best organized Festival in SH. And not only Jazz ;-)
We will stay the whole afternoon until late. Please bring something to pull over with you. At late evening it could be cold near the waterfront.
Any questions? Feel free to ask. See you all there.

Hey Chloe (and everyone else interested):
I'm going to the JZ festival on a later moment (e.g. 6 pm or so) and would join the rest of the group at that time.
Let me know if this would suit you and what time.
Cheers
Hey Hans, good to hear that you will join us later. I and the group will be there for sure.
I would suggest following: let's gather first time at 2pm in front of green note stage and at 6pm we will gather there again to catch all late coming ppl. Hao bu hao?
Does someone need my mobile no? Please send me a PM and I will let you know. EB is a bit too big to publish the number public ;-)
About Vienna Screening - if you have time to join Hans, do it. It is a nice location and the movies are always good. Even you might not know the movie it is nice atmosphere. I will miss it today.

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys this week at Sinan Mansions on thursday. I was going to suggest an event, but since you already planned something on the 30th. One of the venues I work for, Boxing Cat Brewery, is organising it's annual halloween party. For 150 RMB you have a freeflow from 7-11 pm. And mostly everybody is also dressed out in nice costumes, there's a bbq, etc. Just suggesting!
I second what Hans said... thanks Asmus for organizing the JZ event this weekend. It was a lot of fun!
First thing, it's Line and my birthday on November 1st, so we definitely want to go out on Saturday (the 29th) for Halloween so I will talk to Line and we will post details here if anyone wants to come (MaximD's idea for Boxing Cat sounds good to me, just have to check with Line).
Second, for the future, I think we should go to karaoke at some point (I've never gone in China, and I bet some people in this group are quite amazing singers... and then some like me, terrible). And I also heard about a cooking class that is currently only charging for food (~50 RMB/person if I remember correctly). If a group wants to go do that, I can organize for some evening/weekend.
Thanks again Asmus for organizing for the JZ festival and hope to see you all soon!
There is an other Forum Post about Diwali Party next week. I will not bring the infos here in, as it mass up to much. Please take a look on the other discussion as well. Thanks
Thanks for all who joined our JZ Festival Event. Was great fun again with you all.
For all who like to go to Happy Valley Amusement park this Saturday. Here again the Infos and the mobile number from Eloise: 15026674437.
When:
22nd Oct 2011, Saturday. 10:00-22:00
Meeting Point:
SheShan station of metro Line9, there is a sign showing direction of Happyvalley, we could gather there. I will also bring a sign of "Shanghai Stuff". You will find the group either way.
Bring: RMB, Cam, napkin, hat, shades
sh.happyvalley.cn/flash/index2.shtml
Hope many of you will join her.

Yay BIRTHDAY partaaay!!
Let us know what/when/where!
Hi Hans,
Am new to SH and chanced upon this forum
Looking forward to your Lazy Sunday on 30th Oct.
Please post details.
Addie
Hi Addie,
Welcome to SH and to the forum!
As it's halloween this weekend, we might just have another activity instead (e.g. Halloween party on Fri or Sat). We will keep you posted, but you can start looking for a costume already
I mentioned before that Line and I share an almost Halloween birthday (November 1st) and we would like to go out and celebrate Halloween this weekend in style. So the details for the event are as follows.
Where: Boxing Cat Brewery at Sinan Mansions
Sinan Mansions,
Unit 26A, 519 Fuxing Zhong Lu,
near Sinan Lu
思南公馆26A,
复兴中路519号,
近思南路
When: October 29th starting around 7 pm (Free flow drinks from 7-11 pm for 150 RMB)
Bring: Money, costume, your dancing skills and gifts for me and Line (haha, just kidding about the gifts!)
My costume will help me blend in with the surroundings, so give me a call if you can't find me. Hope to see you there!
I'm looking forward to meet you guys! Probably i'll be working so sure you'll see me behind a bar or draft. Who's coming?
Hey Maxim, will we recognize you when u wearing a costume ?
I m guessing somewhere around 10 ppl of the forum will be there, can be more unlikely to be less... But anyway, we ll see ya on Sat!
Btw: as an employee of Boxing Cat I'm sure you can arrange a group discount for Expat.com members? Just consider it a welcoming gift from u to ur new friends
If you'd just come on a normal day I could give you some free beers but with this event you have to buy a bracelet + stamp and there are no such things are group discount (Oooh it's china allright haha).
And for the costume you'll recognise me for sure
So to summarize, what you are saying is:
MaximD wrote:I could give you some free beers
That's all I'll remember anyway, didn't read any further
It's a sad thing there's no like button haha! Do you guys have facebook?
Hi Maxim, thx for the invite, I had a great night but for some reason I couldn't find you - guess there were too many ppl ... or ... or ... you were hiding to avoid giving free drinks .
So...let's start thinking of a next gathering. Let's go for some ART! They have a Picasso exhibition going at the Chinese Expo Pavillion or we can go visit the 1933 building/Moganshan Rd area. Let me know if anyone's up for one of those activities so I can start planning for one of the coming weekends.
Hiding I wouldn't say.. and yes probably a lot of people who had a little to much of those free drinks
Awesome night Saturday. I can vouch that some additional free drink was floating around.. Whisky from the bottle...
I would certianly be up for a bit of culture in the near future Hans (as long as it's on a Sunday). Nice idea.
Hi guys are there anymore events coming up soon, i wiould love to meet you all as i flew in from England Thursday night so don't really know many people.
Please feel free to add me as well but if you guys are heading out anywhere i would love to tag along if you dont mind.
Dave
Hi Hans, hi all of you, I will be out for some time. Need some fresh air from my hometown. On the 21st of November I will be back in town and looking forward for some new events.
I got tickets for Akon on saturday.. is anybody going? I've got them from Belvedere together with a pre party.
Kind regards
Hey Ashley, Maxim, Dave and all others
We are thinking of meeting up coming Sunday, Nov 13th in the afternoon for a walking tour and some drinks or dinner afterwards for those interested. The first thing that popped in mind was Moganshan Rd as I have never visited it before, but we are open to other suggestions.
So let's meet up at 3pm this Sunday, meeting place still to be confirmed.
