Hi everybody! I'm a girl in her late 30ies and I started traveling to Jeddah on business trips alone.
I'm sick of being in the hotel with room service and was wondering:
- is it safe / possible to walk alone in the streets/corniche? if so, should I cover my face or only abbayah and hijab is fine?
- can I go to a nice restaurant alone?
- any chance I can go to a desert or diving trip excursion alone?
- any expats group / events I could join during my 4 days staying ?

any tips or invitations would be great!
my next trip is 1st week of december, back again in February...an every 2-3 months

alf shoukr!!!

only abaya with/without hijab is fine..
I have a Russian (female) friend who visits from time to time and she was scared too, once I showed her around she was fine, it's normal. Going to restaurants/malls etc is all ok, you can take uber/careem.

Lots of divings, hiking groups you can find online, what interest you most? I'm not a big hiking fan here, it's just walk on the hill. Better to go diving.

Good luck.

hai, her in saudi arabia things are differnet from other culture. if you know and understand the culture its easy for you to live. in saudi arabia some restrictions for females are there like no to social with males etc . otherwise you can enjoy the life here...abaya should be a strict dress code here.

You are free to leave the country if you are not happy with its islamic values. people like you are very close mind and want to change the world just because they want to.

Learn how to accept cultures and religions as they come. not as they suit you !!

Ok there Bash Mohandis...I just sent an email of resignation.  I value your opinion of leaving this country.

speaking of Islamic values, what does my comment have to with family section ? I don’t see any resemblance to it, that your so called sun doesn’t shine glory pocket must have sunk to the size of a penny coin

I mean did u know, back in the 60s they didn’t have such segregation and my grandma (may her soul Rest In Peace) used to tell me stories of how she roamed in the hood without Abaya as it was not mandatory. And how everyone in the area respected her um Ahmed (mother of Ahmed).  Similarly family section didn’t exist either. Oh and they had Cinemas too until King Khaled era.

Let’s skip a few weeks back where HRH crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz mentioned that he wants the country to return back to moderate Islam aka old school Saudi. That’s what he meant.

So....never mind. If I say something more you’ll probably report me. Oh wait you might cuz I mentioned something about glory....

Time to pack my bags... u asked me to leave this country *sniff*

Even though I hate you so much.......
I can't miss this; this is hilarious!

However: M not here to comment on segregation. Segregate or not, as long this country pay my bills; I'm fine.

About religion value, it depends on his/ her background and how he/she wants to value it. Of course condition of society will affect.

There is no need to be spiteful to one another, there is enough hatred across the world for any more to be added to it.  :par:
