Hi

I possibly might get a Job in Malaysia and I would like to know the following Employment Pass process the timelines the Stages of getting the employment pass , The employers role in processing the EP & as well as employees role

1) I believe there are two stages of processing the EP and what excatly are Stage 1 & Stage 2

2) How much time does it take to complete Stage 1 and Stage 2 process

3) Does the employee needs to be in Malaysia for both the Stages

4) Does the EP process change according to type of companies

5) What is the normal duration of getting an employment pass at the earliest

6) Does an employee needs to visit immigration department of his home country before EP process

7) What is the employees monetry obligation for an EP

Where can I find the entire process of Employment Pass Stage 1 & Stage 2 process , The required documents for submission , The Responsibility of employee & employers

1) I believe there are two stages of processing the EP and what excatly are Stage 1 & Stage 2
Stage I is carried out when the prospective employee is outside Malaysia. It is approval by immigration for the company to hire a foreigner for a specific job. Stage II is carried out once the prospective employee has entered according to the prevailing rules and the EP is endorsed into the passport.

2) How much time does it take to complete Stage 1 and Stage 2 process
About 2 months

3) Does the employee needs to be in Malaysia for both the Stages
Outside for Stage I

4) Does the EP process change according to type of companies
No, but is carried out differently if the employee is going to get a Professional Pass or a Foreign Worker Pass.

5) What is the normal duration of getting an employment pass at the earliest
When no backlog at immigration and company gets the process right and immigration agrees that a Malaysian cannot do the job, then about 3-4 weeks (when visa with reference, medical and security clearance are required) and perhaps 2-3 weeks when not

6) Does an employee needs to visit immigration department of his home country before EP process
The visa with reference (single entry to take up employment) is obtained from the Malaysian Consulate in home country.

7) What is the employees monetry obligation for an EP
PP - Zero
FW - usually employer makes the prospective employee pay
