My home is in a small town not on the tourist circuit, I don't live there full time but do spend a couple of months a year there.  Here is a sample of my costs:

Electricity: Q250 per month (electric hot water, electric heater (only used occasionally) and Lighting (used a lot since I like a bright house).

Water: Q120 per year

Property taxes: Q300 per year

Full-time housekeeper: going rate is Q30 per day but I pay Q300 per week because it's a friend.

Food: If I'm having people over a lot, around Q1,400 a week. If it's just me then about the same but for the whole month, which includes good coffee - one of my biggest expenses.

Rent in my little town is around Q200 a month for a room, more for a house, depending on the house.

Remember my house is in a small town off the beaten path.
