Thanks Stumpy.
I will finish my studies within three months.
I would like to start the process to move to Australia soon after my studies.
Yes, I need a job. That is the most important. I need information about jobs. I worked as an electrician for 9 years and as an engineer for 4 years in my country. I have also worked in Thailand as English and Physics teacher at different schools and Teaching assistant here at the university for 4 years.
Is it possible to take those exams before being an Australian resident? Taking exams online or in Australia on a visitor visa.
Is it possible to apply for qualifications recognition by Australian authorities before being Australian resident? Which body is responsible?

To get residency takes 2 years. Your employer will arrange the appropriate visa for you. It will not be a permanent residency visa only a work visa.

You will have to take exams to show you are conversant with trade practices in Australia before you can work. No online exams.

Your qualifications will be checked over and verified as part of the visa / immigration process.

Hello all,

I am a young hospitality professional landing in Brisbane at the end of September. I am coming with a working holiday visa, looking to find a job in a hotel or restaurant in Brisbane. Admittedly I would like to find a sponsored job from there. If any of you has advices or previous experiences maybe within your network that could relate, it would great to hear about it!! I'm also happy to chat with people living in Brisbane to socialise when I get there!
Thanks in advance ;)

Hi Carl and welcome to the forum

Adrian182610

Hi everybody!
I'm Adrian. I'm 33 and have been living in Australia for over 2 years. I'm born in Belgium to an English mum and a Belgian dad and have lived in Peru for 5 years as a child. I'm currently coaching Beacon Hill (northern beaches suburb) under 9 year olds (football - the real European one). I'm a massive football addict and support Liverpool FC. I love sports in general and also do interval training in my spare time.

On a professional level, I have a financial institution background (corporate financial markets - securities trade and settlement) and since I've been in Australia, I have been struggling to get a job in that sector so I'm definitely looking to broaden my network and to make a few friends along the way too.

Looking forward to hearing from the community and share interests!

Just got back from a 3 weeks holiday in Australia. Stayed in lovely New Castle, did coffee cruise and a free walk tour around Sydney, went to Blue Mountain, had lunch buffet at Westfield tower, walked around the area, watched movies and checked out pubs. I just find it awesome and the people are so friendly. I never thought I would be thinking of visiting one country twice but I guess I'll go back before my visit visa expires😊

For those of you who are looking to move to Australia you should check this website www.immi.gov.au for visa information and applications.

Also take the time to read through other threads here for information as this has all been covered many times before.

Hello everyone.

I have lived as an expat for over 20 years, on four continents with five international moves over that time. We've been in Aus for 11 years now, and I totally relate to the challenges of re-establishing one's self in a new country.

I always get asked about jobs and cost of living. All I can say is that I have worked in Fin Services and had a high six-figure salary, but every time I build a good team, I get made redundant and my team carries the role until they find someone cheaper than I was to employ. So, I finally decided that I would only focus on building a business for myself - preferably a one-man show where I had flexibility and portability - but where income potential was the same (or better) than my last role. You need a high six-figure income to live well over here.

I chose to build an online business in a field that I love, which travels with me and one I can keep for the rest of my working life irrespective of where I live or travel.

Thankfully, I'm on that path right now and so happy I won't have to sell my time to the corporates again :)

For visas www.immi.gov.au

For jobs try a Google search. The sort of job you are seeking is usually done by locals.
You could try a working holiday visa.

wuwuye2

thanks for your reply yes there are lot of jobs in google but i don't know which one is trusted i need the real website that i could look for jobs.will you help me?

Hi Julien,
Thank you. I have already to Australia and I am looking for a job. I am from Iran and my mother tongue is Azerbayjani.
I have bachelor's in Electrical-Electronics  engineering and extensive experience in electrical/Instrumentation.
I am not looking for engineer position and I do not mind working as a tecbnician and apprentice at first as long as it is related to my study and I like it.

I would be grateful if you could help me find a job as you know here in Sydney everyghing is expensive and I need a job to make a living.

Kind regards,
Mohammad

Bhavna

Hi everyone and welcome to Expat.Com

@ Mohammad, you should post an advert in the Jobs in Sydney section along with your cv, it could help you land an opportunity.

Furthermore, read the Finding work in Sydney article, you will find some hints and websites where you may search for offers.

All the best,
Bhavna
