Hi all,
Currently in discussions with a company in Kuwait to maybe make a move in a few months.  Have traveled to Kuwait a few times and lived in the Middle East for a number of years.  Looking at getting some answers to questions around Housing, costs, areas, schools etc. so if there is anybody out there who can advise - Fantastic!!
Also looking for advice on things to do for the wife &kids, any after school activities, coffee groups, etc. to get them introduced to the community and making friends..
Thanks in advance to all
D.

Is this normal procedure? We will be living around th mahboula area. I hope I will be able to meet up with other expats and be able to socialise

Thanks

Hello all,

I am Rebeca and my family and I moved to Kuwait this past Sunday. My husband is in the oil and gas business, taking us from our home country of Venezuela to Houston and now here.

We are currently finding which school is the best fit for our kids, looking into family activities (such as joining a club or something to that effect) and just getting to know the country and our way around.

Any tips or recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hi Everyone,
I've just been offered a job in Kuwait, Sharq at a gym! Really excited but also really nervous!
I would be traveling alone and would really appreciate any info about living just to hopefully put me at ease with the big Move!
Thanks for any help.
Danielle

Hi Danielle
Welcome on board. Don't be nervous. Life is safe and peaceful in Kuwait. Life here is easygoing. The country is full of expatriates like you from all over the world which is nice to learn new cultures. Make sure your gym provide accommodation and transportation.
I recommend you to go through the forum and read other topics about life in Kuwait , you will find more details about cost and prices.

Regards

Hi.

I've just posted a panicked, desperate topic on the Visa section of the forum, so thought I should do the polite thing and come here to introduce myself!

My wife has started a teaching position with one of the International schools over here so we got into Kuwait at the end of August with our 2 young kids from Shropshire, England.  We're here until June 2019, possibly till the year after depending on how well we like it here.

While my wife works and our children are at school, I'm planning on taking some time to practise my drawing and writing and also see if I can get to grips with Arabic (not liking my chances to be honest!).  I had hoped to find some work out here, but having done a bit of research, that seems an unlikely prospect.  Back in the UK I formerly worked in roles which revolved around IT Infrastructure deployment (Project-manager type stuff rather than technical).  I took a break from that about 2 years ago and have been working as a self-employed plasterer up until we packed up and came out here.

I've joined the forum mainly so that I can draw on the wealth of experience that seems to reside here... all of the other expats I've met so far work at the same school as my wife and all seem as lost and clueless as we do currently!  I'd love to find out if my negative assumptions about finding work here are correct, and also would love to find out what other people here do to occupy themselves and their kids (we don't have a massive income and already seem to be running out of things to do with the children).

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Ribosom

Welcome ShopshireLad,

There is no (legal) way for your wife to sponsor your residency as I mentioned in the other thread. Once you clarify and hopefully resolve that, the rest is much easier.

ShropshireLad

Many thanks (again!)

My wife has clearly been given duff information by the school she's working at.  Not exactly surprised... they have not met expectations in any way so far.

Hello All
My name is Yasmin and I've been born and raised in Kuwait since 24 years!
Anyone would like to socialize ? :)

Ericlye

Hi everyone, I am a Chinese and has been here for 3 years.  Life in Kuwait is a bit boring and lonely if there is no friend who could talk with you and dine together.  I just don't like to eat alone.  Hope I could make some friends to have a better social life.

Arly1982

Contact me any time you feel boring

Stanimal

Greetings everyone Stan here from the USA, Texas and Tennessee to be exact.  I am not exactly new to Kuwait, but I have never been here as a full time resident.  I was in country about a month ago and now awaiting my residency visa before coming back which I believe to be soon now.  I hope to meet up with others living here in Kuwait and do fun things, eat great food, learn many things and share my experiences as well.
