Hello,

We invite you to share some information regarding the job market for expats in Canada. This information will be incredibly helpful to anyone considering moving there, so we're very grateful for your contribution.

What are the types of jobs that are easily accessible to expats in Canada?

What are the ones most in-demand for expats?

Which industry and/or jobs have limited workforce?

Are there any existing surveys, data, or reports done regarding this topic?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

Hello:

Medical profession, Doctors, specialist, Nurses etc. are in great demand as long as you have the academic qualifications and experience in Canada or you have to complete some exams or training in Canada if you have got overseas qualifications. Not all overseas qualifications are considered eligible for exemptions.
Accountants and Auditors are needed too as well as Plumbers, Electrician, IT profession, customer service (Bilingual, English and French) and Hospitality employees.

Hello Pricilla,
My expat clients have mostly worked in the field of engineering.  Often these are companies with subsidiaries or ongoing relationships with foreign companies.  The Canadian staff member is working abroad while the foreign national staff member is working in Canada.  There is an exchange of culture, technology, skills, and opportunities that aligns and increases opportunities for both companies.

The other expat community that I serve is university professors and researchers.  Professors and researchers derive many benefits from working in foreign universities. Sometimes there is an ongoing, official exchange between two universities.  This promotes continuous learning.

May I ask the reason for your inquiry. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Warm regards,

Christal Reed

Hello Lady, I have non-experience in that subject, actually, i am trying to get there but finding a job offer is much more difficult than I thought. I am still living in Cuba, plenty of companies does not like so much that I am not there already. I will keep trying. Maybe in few months i would be more useful to you,

It sounds easy to get an expat job, but actually it’s a lot of research and meeting persons directly from certain companies. If you find any or good sites lemme know

Finding a good job in Canada can be very challenging even for Canadian-born citizens. New and potential immigrants to Canada should be well aware of the job market and how to best optimize their work skills and experience.

I work for a major Canadian bank. A typical entry-level position---no experience, high school graduate, good English---will receive from 100 to 200 applications. About two dozen will be selected for a phone interview and 4 to 8 finalists will be given a personal interview. These are rough approximations only and will widely vary depending upon needs/preferences of HR manager and each department.

FOR MOST JOBS, TO BE CONSIDERED A SERIOUS CANDIDATE, YOU MUST BE BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT IN CANADA.

There are exceptions, of course, notably in the technology industry. Some Canadian companies will conduct live video interviews for certain positions and candidates. Sometimes the work site is remote and/or inaccessible or highly skilled candidates for senior positions are concerned. For the latter, note the final stage will almost always involve a personal interview---flight and hotel paid by the company---at the Canadian head office. These scenarios can be very industry dependent however.
