Hello Dee sen.To answer your question, first my question..safe from what?..A British woman walked into a wooded area.lonely, away from the main road, countryside but near the sea and was killed by what they say was wolves,so great caution and mindset to where you are is paramount in any place on this planet, the unexpected can happen at any time. This country prefers not to report most of the violent crimes of which the numbers are high and they go no further than the police station, large numbers of those are domestic but not all and not all are concerning migrants.I would say to you that Greece has changed a lot in the last ten years and Greeks themselves have been affected by drug dependency which results in crime to others besides their own fellow group type, also burglary into property where you may be staying can happen.Sometimes non Greek males sexually attack and rob Greek women and tourists,it happens here,on the islands and mainland, groups of foreign men hanging about or on their own can be scary.People go missing every day here, not because its..here..but because thats what happens on this planet. If you happen to be in a dance club, bar, young Greek males that now indulge in rather large amounts of alcohol may get ideas. The possibility goes on and Im sure you already know these things I say but dont travel here thinking Greece is different, its safer than else where because its not,not anymore, see it the same as any other place on earth, guard yourself well if you travel especially on your own, preferably find someone to go with, your life is precious.

Hi concertina!

Thanks for your reply and I apologize for not responding so quickly.

I get your point. I am a very cautious person but at the same time I know for a fact that things just happened and beyond anyone's control.

By asking if it is safe, I actually meant safe for a woman solo traveler to be roaming around the place without frequently being cat-called and if people are somehow approachable to be asked for directions or simple questions. I know most people are but it would be nice to hear it from people who's been there or from there.

I hope this didn't come across as rude or anything.

Derelle

Hi,

Thanks for the time responding. Yeah I am cautious like that. Will keep this in mind. I haven't decided as of now but I am really looking forward to set foot on this country I so hear often.

Dee :)
