@planner I see, there are more expensive than USA. I will follow your advice, thank you@

@snowinpalm Did you try Humano, they cover people over 70. Also SENASA Contributivo I hear people saying they  have improved coverage, and now even cover catastrophic illnesses.

@vkathy59  Enquire about Seguros Pepin, and a Seguro de Ley, might interest you.

Two insurance questions:

1. Dermatology is not covered by insurance?

2.Say you have cosmetic surgery which obviously is not covered by insurance. Some time later regular health issues associated with the cosmetic surgery, will insurance cover the later regular health issues or provide problems in paying?

Dancumin

@stealth19  . i want to know if a 76 year old can enroll in health insurance plan .

Dancumin

I used to belong to Mapfre health insurance. i was part of a small group insurance run by a agent in Sosua . last year they double my premium. i am 76 years old and have been in tihis group for over 11 years . premium went to nearly 8500 pesos a month. I asked agent to provide me with a document proving that insurance company really raised the rates so high. I said I would pay if the agent provided the proof . Agent did not provide proof and canceled my insurance. Is there some thing that can be done. Now i have no insurance.

planner

Wow  go directly to Mapfre and bypass the agent!  Immediately and bring proof!  They should be able to reinstate you

ondami

@planner is this still a valid and viable option?

planner

No they pulled this product and it's no longer available. Sorry.

As far as I know, currently,  there is no private insurance available here for over age 65.

ondami

@planner thank you for the update amd soeedy replies.

I need some clarification.

No private insurance for ex-pats over 65?  or, no private insurance for citizens?  I ask as my partner is a citizen and over 65.

Thank you.

planner

I am talking about private insurance only.

Supposedly there is something thru Senasa for Dominicans. I can't confirm.

ondami
