In a similar situation.. am on week 3 now.

Could be because theres been a lot of applications before the law change on 1st Sept so a lot of companies cramming to beat the deadline. But frustrating wait nevertheless..

Chou2161

Hi all, my Spass application has been approved and the IPA is issued which is valid until 29 Oct. I plan to arrive in Singapore in 19 Sep and do health check on the same day. I have informed HR that my starting date would be October 3. They told me that on the starting day I should submit health check report and other relevant documents so that they can submit to MOM for the physical Spass issuance, after which I should register fingerprint and take photo then the Spass card will be delivered to my residential address in Singapore .

I wanted to ask how long do I have to wait to receive the Spass card? Can I receive it before Oct 29?

beppi

It is unimportant when you receive the physical card, as everything is electronic and in the cloud nowadays

@Chou2161

Thx

Chou2161

Hi

My Current Employer has Applied for my EP Renewal and I have my Approved IPA Letter. However, the EP is yet to be issued. In the mean time, I have got an offer and they would like to proceed with EP processing, should they wait to apply for new EP until the current renewed EP Card is issued with Notification Letter? Or should they wait until the Physical EP Card is delivered?

Please clarify.

Thanks much

beppi

They have to wait until your EP is issued - no two ongoing applications at the same time!

priyasinger86

@beppi Thanks for the Response. However, Just to be more specific. Can they apply after the EP issued with Notification Letter Or only after the Physical EP Card is delivered?

beppi

As far as I know, the physical card does not matter - everything is electronic and in the cloud nowadays!

Shekhz

EP renewal, since when do we have IPA for a renewal?

For a new pass through a new employer, wait for the EP issue.

Usobbdy

16 days and counting...

kbrit01

@Usobbdy

Day 26 for me

Usobbdy

@kbrit01

hey how is it?

Now  22 days and still pending for me.

priyasinger86

Hi, As I mentioned earlier, I am existing EP holder from India, for the last 6 years and now I have another offer within SG. Now, my new employer claims that my Education Certificate Name ( Eg., Rohit S) and Passport name (Rohit Saran - Saran is Father's name and I use it as my Surname/Lastname) are different and with the current tightened rules, we need to get a Supporting document to say that the name in both these documents are the same person.

If I need to get a Notarized affidavit what needs to be done? Can advise pls?

Also, Will this be an Issue or a reason for rejection. As my EP renewal also was completed recently.

beppi

Priyasinger: Obviously, MoM wants to be sure that the two cerificates showing different spellings of your name are indeed for the same person (you). The easiest way might be to get a letter from your educational institution, clarifying that an abbreviated name was used and the certificate is indeed for ... (full name here).

ShBhardwaj

Hi All,

I have recently applied for EP on 2nd Sept 2022, its showing in pending status. May i know what are the chances of approval. I have applied from India for Software engineer role in Deloitte Singapore.

Shinejoe

@ShBhardwaj when ur pass status change to pending? on the same day they applied for you or have to wait a few days?

beppi

@ShBhardwaj It is impossible to evaluate your approval chances from the very little information you gave. Please read related forum discussions to get an idea of which factors affect your chances!

ShBhardwaj

@Shinejoe MOM had asked for additional document which HR submitted on 2nd Sept , from that day its showing in pending status.

ShBhardwaj

@beppi MOM had asked for additional documents which HR submitted on 2nd Sept. Till date its showing pending status. Do you think after this , will they reject the application or will it be through ? How many more days it would take to get outcome?

This is the third time you are asking the same question, althought you got good replies the first time. Please go back and read the answers there - we really cannot tell you more about your specific case!

Hi all,

To add in the success story on EP application, I've recently applied EP via Deloitte as my agency, and I’ve just got the approval today.

Application submitted: 22 Sep

Approval received: 27 Sep

Position: Regional Financial Controller

Education: Advanced Diploma (Uni listed in SAT)

Company: US based MNC

I was doubting myself for a moment whether education will be the buzz killer but based on Deloitte info as long as the education is recognised by Singapore, everything should be ok and of course remuneration will be huge factor here.

All the best to the ones that still waiting for the approval!

Cheers.

Mayu Raj

Hi All,

Looking for some insights/inputs on my pass approval delay..

Spass applied on 20th June 2022

Still pending as of 30th September 2022

Nationality: Indian

Qualification: B.Tech

Sector: IT/Application Developer

Salary: 5.3K

YoE: 6+

Pre-pandemic worked in SG on short-term SPass (~1+month)

It’s been 3+ months now and not sure of the reasons for delay as the status is pending and no rejection/enquiry raised with the employer.

Asked recruiter to raise an expedite request with MoM and was informed that MoM simply asked to wait.

Note: Hiring process is happening through an IT services/consulting agency due to quota issues.

Are there any reasons that you can speculate for the delay? What seems to be chances the of getting my SPass approved?

Your leads/inputs appreciated. Thanks in advance!

marty001

i work as financial consultant for my clients, am direct mandate to the provider of bank instruments such as (SBLC/FC BG & LC) .

pafit0702

Hi folks, in a bit of dilemma now whether to accept a job offer. Started a new role last month, but just heard back from a co that ghosted me, and the offer is almost a 30% increment from my current comp.

If I were to accept, how likely would MOM approve the EP? And is there any tangible consequence if the application was rejected, both for my current and future employers? Would appreciate the advice, and plus points if you have gone through a similar exp or are familiar with the EP application procedure.

Additional background info for clarity

Age: early 20s

Education: NTU/NUS/SMU (MOE Scholar)

YoE: 1+

Current comp: $75-90k (2nd job out of uni)

New role is in a different industry.

Shekhz

@pafit0702

First up, the company that ghosted on you is probably not the right place to be (in my opinion). You can earn based on your talent and skills but the employer you choose must have the right communication channels at all times for you as a candidate.

you will be considered a job hopper for money, so it wouldn’t be ideal. Pick jobs with surety, not to dance around after a month or few months (ideally 2-3 years with one employer is good).

is there a bigger responsibility and lot of learning with the ghost company that’s keen on paying you more? If yes, then you may want to take the risk and ask them to secure your IPA. Only when you get your IPA, resign from the current employer.

Shekhz

@Mayu Raj you have the answer, the ‘note on your post’ is probably the reason for the delay (amongst any others possibly).

Hi all, Introduce myself as a new member and silent reader.

Company has applied me to E Pass & S Pass. My timeline:

30th September : Application submission.

3rd October : MOM asked about certification and some verifications. But, the application is still not shown on MOM Service

4th October : It's being trackable on the MOM service website.  Status: Pending

Background:

Nationality : Indonesian

Job title : Cloud Architect

YoE : 3 Years +

All the best for all..

I will update once it's approved.

abhilashothers

@Mayu Raj My EP application is also in Pending status for past 2+ months. No Rejection/Enquiry by MOM. When contacted they also asked my employer to wait. No consultancy is involved unlike your case. This is happening for many people nowadays.

crasengit83

Also for tracking.

Applied: 26 Sept

Status: Pending

Pay: 11k

Background: Changing jobs after 1 year, currently hold EP at another firm, IT industry with a few yrs experience

pafit0702

@Shekhz

Appreciate the input. The new co is essentially a startup, and I believe they initially put the recruiting of this role on hold due to internal restructuring. Responsibility and freedom are definitely much better, not to mention potential upside in vested equity.

You didn't answer my original questions though, which are

1) Would applying for a new EP so soon impact the outcome from MOM's standpoint? Any precedents for such cases?

2) If the application is rejected, would it somehow leave an adverse record both for my current and future employers?

Shekhz

@pafit0702

here are my responses to your questions-

  1. It may have an impact, but we can’t predict here, so best to take that risk, have the ‘ghost’ apply for your EP- if you secure your IPA, resign and be merrier
  2. Companies have adverse records or come under the radar if they resort to unethical hiring practices or violate any laws. This situation isn’t tied to the companies, this is ‘your’ choice to switch in a short span

pafit0702

@Shekhz

Ah I meant adverse record on my end, i.e., would my current/future employers view a "rejected" EP application in a negative light?

My application has been pending for more than 2 months already. Is it possible to know the specific cause/reason for the delay in processing/approval?

Would it be possible for me to look for another employer while there is a pending EP application?

Thank you so much!

beppi

The employer can contact MoM and ask for a faster process, but they won't tell the reason for a delay.

Of course yoiu can continue your job search while waiting for their decision.
