Hello everyone
I really don't know if i am posting in the right section but i hope to get an answer and a help

I am staying in kl for some months with tourist pass
illigaly working
I applied for a job and they called me, impressed of my skills and they asked me to go for an interview as soon as possible

My question is

I heard a lot about scams on work permit
So i don't know what to do in my case
If they will accept me after the interview
Should i go out of malaysia to get work visa and work permit?
Or the employer do everything even if i am inside malaysia with tourist pass?
Second question
It is too hard to get a job here i faced million interviews when they knew i don't have work permit they just ignored me
Some of my friends said if the company dosen't want troubles of work permit u can sponsor your own work permit if the company helps with papers
Means i need to pay for it
I don't want to be in a trap of scams
What should i do?
I need you advice about my questions
Thanks a lot in advance

1. yes you have to leave the country while the application is made to hire you - immigration need to see your exit stamp.

2. no, only an employer can sponsor an employment pass.

3. yes lots of scams but usually easy to spot because you are asked for money.

4. Your nationality requires a visa to enter the country to work.

*VDR or SEV (single entry visa) is processed once the Visa Approval Letter has been issued. The VDR is placed in your passport outside Malaysia by a Malaysian High Commission or Consulate.

Hi Gravitas,

My company is applying EP (professional visa) through MDec. May i have a link to check application status online by keying my passport number?

Thanks in advance

Gravitas

There is no online checking system for MDEC visa processing as far as I know. They changed their website late 2017 and this option was not carried forward.

This is the ESD checker - https://esd.imi.gov.my/portal/application-status/ but you may not get any result.

Kellytrinh

Thank you so much! I tried to key in but so far there is no result ☹️

The instruction on the Xpats website under FAQs (No.6) is:

https://expats.com.my/expats/msc/faq/https://expats.com.my/expats/nonmsc/faq/

For the Authorized Person, application status is available in the eXpats system.
Kindly login http:/www.expats.com.my
For others, you may check the status of your application with your company Authorized Person

Thanks Gravitas so helpful
So as i understand when i will leave malaysia the company should send me papers to use asking for work visa, will they contact the employer to complete the process? (Additional questions n papers or money ...)

Another question i don't know if it important or not
On my way back to malaysia with working visa, will the immigration let me pass with no return ticket, or should i get the return ticket when i'm enering?
Thanks again

Yes. The company would make a request to immigration for an employment pass. If this is approved a Visa Approval Letter is generated and sent to the prospective employee in order for them to visit the Malaysian HC or Consulate to get the SEV visa to enter to take up the job.

The prospective employee is responsible to pay the charges or fees to get the SEV (VDR) in the country they inform their prospective employer they wish to collect it

There should be no other fees or charges to get an employment pass.

You do not have the "working visa" in your passport. You only have a SEV which allows you to enter Malaysia upon also presenting the Visa Approval Letter and invitation letter from the employer. You get a 30 day entry. The final step is for the employer to submit your passport to immigration so that the EP can be endorsed.

Ask the employer or Malaysian HC/consulate about the ticket requirements - you usually need to show the ticket to get the SEV.

Ok take me easy and step by step gravitas

I leave the country so they put the exit stamp on my passport
I ask for single entry visa that allows me to work using invitation letter right? Any other papers?

They should give me this SEV before my entery to malaysia

They give me 30 days of entery, even if i don't need visa for tourism but this one is for work

Then the employer finish the rest with immigration

Am i right?

Gravitas

It is not an invitation letter to get the SEV/VDR. It is an official visa approval document (VAL) from the Immigration Department.

The VAL may or maynot contain a VDR approval. If the VAL does not contain the VDR approval a separate document is required showing VDR approval. The employer applies for the VDR approval after the VAL is issued by immigration

With the approval(s), the Malaysian HC or consulate can issue the SEV/VDR into the passport.

It is not possible to enter as a tourist and later get the work visa endorsed into the passport. So first VDR stamp then EP stamp

You can only work when the EP stamp is endorsed (which requires all the other steps to have been properly completed)

Yes Gravitas
By leaving malaysia the only contact i will have is the employer and the malaysian embassy

Can u just make it easy for me and tell me steps as i mentioned in my previous question?
1- leave the country to get exit stamp .....

Because i don't know if i will get this document from the embassy and send it to the employer or get it with 30 single entry and then be in malaysia so the employer will continue
My mind is in a mess now
Thanks for being patient with me gravitas

Gravitas

Read it again. It's quite clear.

Don't be angry gravitas at first i saw only 3 lines of your message now appeared all

U said. The employer applies for the VDR approval after the VAL is issued by immigration

Is he applying for the VAL or me?

Gravitas

It's all very clearly written in the grey coloured section.
