It depends on your status

Are you coming to live in spain, how long have been the registered owner of it

There is some useful info here

Thanks John, I will be moving to Spain for good, my son has a bike registered in his name for 4plus years and mins has been registered in my name for 2 years. I'll check out that web site.

If you decide to go ahead i suggest you find a gestor in the area where you will live and ask them the costs and their fees.

DIY usually is not cost effective

I was thinking I may have to do that, thanks again John

Note; things will go more smoothly if the bike has no modifications and is built for the EU market.
Lights will have to dip the other side to that in your own country. Beam defectors are not allowed.

Its a fully restored (in Ireland)  1985 Vespa  with no modifications.  I hadnt thought about the headlights !  thank you

Vespa, some might say that is not a 'bike. Called here in Spain a Motocicletas ;)

However, that point aside you should be able to purchase a new lamp easily as they are imported into the country, there are a few clubs around. If under 125cc you can drive one on a car licence. You will still need a helmet and the law states you have to drive with the headlamp lit.

Maybe join the club, help you to improve your Spanish and make friends with a common interest.
