Holiday Pay - No Accrued Days From Last Year

Hello,

I'm in a pickle.

This is my first year working in Norway since the 1st of January, so I've accrued no holiday pay from last year.

I have 25 days off and paid by the employer. So, I'm guessing this would have been 10.2% extra on top of my salary if I did work the whole of last year.

The problem is that I have 25 days to take and have 17 booked off already and am due to go on vacation next week. I've been told that I need to take less than 5 weeks to actually get paid this month.
So, I either do not get paid or take two days off my vacation and rebok flights, etc.

I have no cash if I don't get paid my normal wage. I'm not looking for that 10.2% extra for the whole year, accumulative. I just need to get paid for my hours entered for last month.

Can they withold my normal salary without the supplementary holiday pay? All because of the time off I have booked?

Thanks for any help ;)

I am no expert in how holiday pay works, but I recommend reading (and possibly contacting) arbeidstilsynet. Here is their English language page on holiday and holiday pay:

It sounds a bit confusing.  You have no accrued pay from last year but you said you will still have 25 days paid by your employer?

My understanding is if you don't have accrued holiday pay from last year and tried to take holiday this year, it is considered as Unpaid leave.

You can perhaps negotiate with your payroll dept or HR dept to deduct your pay through several payments?  perhaps a little bit off each month so that you still have cash for spending in June.
