Hi,

I would like to know what is a decent salary in MUR to live a decent life of 3 family members .

If anyone can give me reviews of Northfields International school.

riteshabbi

Hi

I believe you need a min of 75-100k p.m considering that a decent 2-3 BR fully furnished apartment or villa would cost 25-40k. Add to that the cost of buying a car ( a must) as public transport is not that great. School fee for Northfields itself for expats is 18-20k p.m. Health insurance would also cost you 1.5k per person p.m. Then monthly groceries and stuff.

Northfields is one of the best IB school on the island besides Bocage in Moka.

Let me know if you need any other information.

You also have to note the minimum salary that gives your permit to stay & work on the island. It's Rs60k per month and Rs30k for IT sector.

Hi,

I need to have  clarification that if we get 60k MUR salary and say for example 20 k Housing allowance  leaving kid education apart. Is this sufficient to sustain life of three members there inclusive of one kid. How expensive it is as compare to living in India. and more over is it worth getting this min wage as set by govt of there to get OP. What are advantages as compare to India if one look to move there.

Regards,
Dolly

Hi

If you are getting housing allowance and kids education over and above the 60k, then it would be sufficient.

Mauritius is an expensive place just like all tourist destinations. It would be better if your husband also starts working here too.

Work-life balance is much better than India and Mauritius also has one of the cleanest air in the world. I would strongly suggest that you socialize and make a decent friend circle so that you don't feel lonely.

As mentioned earlier, reach out to me at my personal email for further details.

Well My husband is working with US client in India but he has flexibility to work from any location in the world  but his salary would be in INR, since its full time work from home from his company. I am only concern about the sustainability in mauritus.

dollysirohi

Are there opportunities in IT sector ....What all companies in IT are there..

Azhar Duman

I have 2 kids at Northfields. If you're in the North, this is the best school.

dollysirohi

Thanks for the reply ..ya I am in north fields

dollysirohi

which grades your kids are in

dollysirohi

can you suggest me some good residential areas to live near the school?

Azhar Duman

Check below areas (distance wise);
Calodyne (very near the sea and quiet place) - 10 car minutes
Mount Piton (gated community) - 5 car minutes
Belle Vue (gated community) - 2 car minutes

Above 3 are the best/safest I reckon.

dollysirohi

Thanks alot

Azhar Duman

You're welcome
