Highly skilled Security Systems Implementation Specialist

Hi everyone,
We are in the process of planning our move from South Africa.
My husband is always on the road and as a joint effort we are researching as much as we can.
I am at the office mostly so I am asking all the questions :-)

My husband has 23 years experience in the technical system side of security hardware and software implementations. All types of access control systems (biometrics, turnstiles, boom gates, fencing etc.), CCTV, Alarm systems, time and attendance systems, public address systems, intruder detection systems etc..

He runs his own company, which is 12 and a half years old. So he has business management and project management experience.

Does anyone know if this type of job is required in the business sector of New Zealand (we are not residential market focused) and if anyone has a name or a person that can maybe assist in connecting us with someone in that  industry? maybe a friend or a connection? We would be really grateful. He is willing to work as a technician and get his hands dirty.

Please let us know. Our hope is to find a job as soon as we can. SA is really getting dangerous, more so than ever!

Thanks guys for your time.

Hi and welcome to the forum  :)

Jobs in software security can be found in NZ. Try www.seek.co.nz or a good old Google search. Any employer will be responsible for visas, permits etc.

For information check out the New Zealand Guide under 'Discover' at the top of this page. Also check out other posts on this forum for info. Or www.immigration.govt.nz  You could also check out the NZ Embassy website in SA for information.

The construction industry is crying out for tradesmen.

Hi there  :par:
Thank you for your help, we truly appreciate the feedback.

If we find a job while on holiday and then come back to SA get all our stuff and move over, does the company arrange the work visa and for how long do you get work visas for, what is the best length to agree to and when do you get permanent residency?

Thanks again!
Jullie

You are welcome  :)

The company arranges the visas etc which are issued for the length of contract period agreed to between your husband and the company.

There is an essential skills list www.skillshortages.immigration.govt.nz

Permanent residency is applied for after 5 years of residency in NZ. However if your husbands skill is on the long term skill shortage list then you may be able to apply for residency after 2 years. Check out the website I quoted above for details.

Good luck and please keep the forum updated as the information may be of use to others.

:par: Thanks again, and thank you for your time. This is really helpful information. I will keep everyone posted on the progress. Its a blessing to have people who are willing to help those dealing with this massive  change.

Have a great day.
