Language barriers in Bahrain

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello,

Learning a new language is a part of the expat process. Let's find out how crucial it is to know the language in Bahrain.

What is the official language in Bahrain, and what are the other popular spoken languages?

Is it possible to live in Bahrain and get by without speaking the language?

How do you manage to communicate with the locals if you don't speak the native/official language fluently?

What are some popular and useful phrases that expats absolutely need to know?

Can you share some tips about how to survive in Bahrain on a daily basis without speaking the language?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi,

Bahrain is fairly easy to live in as an expat. Most of the locals speak English fairly good. I have lived in many countries across the Middle East and have to say Bahrain is very inclusive. The cost of living is lower than the rest of the GCC and alot more expat friendly.

The majority of Bahrains population is made up of expats therefore most locals speak English well.

You won't face any problems in communication.

Hi priscilla,
Here we can manage with English language mainly with local community since most of them well educated.
I believe the next language is Hindi since most of the community(expats) from India and Pakistan so it is easy to manage  with this language.

Never had a problem with people not speaking English. It’s widely spoken across the kingdom
