Hello dear Members,

I guess this could be an interesting topic. So I invite the members (both locals & expat) to tell us your favorite places to visit in Ahmedabad?

Which places would you recommend to newcomers? (restaurants, parks, historical venues,...)

I am sure your suggestions will be highly valued.

Thanking you in advance for your contributions.

I have found many interesting things for myself there in Ahmedabad. Most astonishing (for me) are the jalis on the western wall of Siddi Saiyad`s Mosque in the northern corner of Bhadra Fort. The jalis were made by a slave of Ahmed Shah in 1572 and depict the intertwining branches of a tree, carved with an extraordinary delicacy.
And the city’s famous Shaking Minarets next to the railway station, of course. Unfortunately those were partly damaged in the earthquake of 2001…

Science City with its IMAX theater is worth a visit.

Sabarmati Ashram is a must for history buffs as it was HQ of Gandhi.

Thol bird sanctuary (35 km)

Mahatma Gandhi temple (35 km)

Vishala theme restaurant

Vintage car museum near Kathwada

Akshardham temple (35 km at Gandhinagar)

Manek Chowk is a must visit for foodies.
