The Telcel's website says that the rate for calling my country of destination costs $0.01 per minute, but they charged me 1 US$ when I called it; what am I doing wrong?

It has been a couple of years since I bought a cell phone(Mazatlan) but I did have Telcel. I bought a phone with a package that gave me a fixed number of calls to the US. It was expensive, but not anywhere near a dollar a minute. Best of luck.

What plan do you have n_dee? and are you calling from your country or Mexico?

Ah yes, Amigo, that's the 'you have as many minutes as you bought card' as I recall. I would check with Telcel and see what the rules are for that plan now. As I recall it was very basic. I had an Amigo card 6 years ago. For the last 4 years, I have been on one of the prepaid plans. This could be of some help https://www.finder.com/best-prepaid-sim-card-mexico

Hi "n_dee", I have a telcel phone with a chip (chip can be use on other phones), my plan is Amigo por segundo (calls charged on a per second cost of $0,0142 pesos/sec or $0,85 pesos/min) for all calls to Canada, USA and Mexico. Calls to other countries are not the same price based on your profile our country is Russia so calling there would be more expensive.
Here is the site whit the rate for all Amigo plans and none have rates for outside Canada, USA and Mexico.

Adios y buen dia a todos, GyC.

This page has those rates, but they are very far from what they actually charged me :-/
There must be a catch somewhere.

You can sign up through Skype for calls anywhere for $2.99/month. You can either make the call through your computer or by downloading the Skype app to your phone.
