Dating and finding love as an expat in Brazil

Hello,

With cultural barriers and different dating norms, finding love as an expat abroad can be exciting and challenging at the same time.

Is it easy to meet other fellow single people in Brazil?

How do you go about meeting people (through friends, online dating, apps, meetup groups)?

How safe is it to date in Brazil?

How do you deal with cultural differences when dating?

What are certain dating etiquettes and rules when dating in Brazil?

How do you deal with getting into a serious relationship if you know you might be leaving Brazil?

Thank you for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Easy to find love at the moment!  If one can accept that cultural proclivity, Brasil is great for passion, fun, adventure, friendly and beautiful women.

I would say the women are more liberated sexually and do not play games with men when it comes to making love.

Smaller towns, Universities etc. are great places to meet women and a man who does not understand the reality of ´´love in Brasil´´ should be cautious and go more slowly to establish a more permanent and mutually giving relationship.

Remember for most women around the world, improving their quality of life goes hand and hand with mating.

There are several issues ex pats should consider that might be radically different from their own culture.

Globally, at least 50% of all dating ads are bogus in one form or another even on reputable sites.

Specific to Brazil:

There is little respect shown to Brazilian women by some segments of the male population. This leads to a sense of ‘ownership’ in their minds and long after a relationship breakup the male partner is likely to chase down a new boyfriend often with terminal consequences.

In any society with a dire economy women seek to improve their prospects with open
legs. A lot of guys will be fine with this for their own reasons but beware of ladies who are supposedly ‘on the pill’ but looking to fall pregnant by anyone with an income. Ex pats are prime targets for child support.

Scams to extort money from ex pats via sexual entrapment are common. 95% of ladies looking to date someone more than twice their age are not doing so because they like older men.

Brazil has the largest number of people living with HIV in Latin America. Rates of other STD’s are also high.

Many Brazilian women regard ex pats as a lifestyle funding novelty so if you’re looking for a lasting relationship resist the inevitable urge for fancy restaurants, clothes, holidays and other gifts. A couple of months spent dating frugally will soon weed out the gold diggers.

Brazilian women like to shop around so don’t be blind as to how far up the list you might be.
