Temporary/PR Visa

FL410

I am a pilot for an airline in the USA. I can live anywhere I want as long as I can fly to my crew base and begin and end my trips. Since I fly for free it’s not an issue usually.

Considering my employment obligations and the Visa requirements in Ecuador.... is there any way around the 90 day out of country limit or the 180 day limit? I would definitely contact an attorney to take care of this but if there is no way around the minimum days in/out of country I may be at an impasse.

I also have an Ecuatoriana novia, which is why I’m considering this.

Thanks in advance

Dear FL410,

Welcome to the Ecuador forums of expat.com ...

I suppose you mean a maximum allowed of 90 days outside of Ecuador in the first couple of years on a visa .. and 180 days maximum allowed inside the country on tourist stamps.

Correct me if that's not what you mean.

If this is what you mean, you had better ask a top Ecuadorian immigration attorney such as Sebastian Cordero, email scordero(at) rcpabogados.com

He's pretty creative and may have a solution once he learns the details of your situation.

Thanks for the reply. Let me explain more.
I know tourist T3 visa is 90 days and you can get an extension to 180 days once every 5 years.

I am wanting info on the Temporary and Permanent resident visas.

I will have to travel back to the USA a few times per month to work. I will return to Ecuador on my days off.

What are the visa requirements per year for staying in the country? I was reading that with the temporary visa I had to remain in Ecuador for 270 days and could only be out of the country for 90 days... is this total days per year, or I could only be gone for 90 days before returning? Cumulative? Or does this reset per entry/exit?

I do not wish to remain outside of Ecuador for extended periods of time. I would have to leave and return a few times per month for work, but the majority of my time off would be in country.

If I am reading this correctly is there another method to get a waiver due to my employment situation?
I don’t think I will ever be able to only be outside of Ecuador for only 90 days per year due to my employment. 180 days I may be able to make it work.

Thanks again in advance.

The immigration law changed fairly recently and your particulars are unique.  So it's a dubious plan to rely on layman Expats on this forum for the 'inside baseball' application to your case.

It's a no-brainer to email a top attorney such as the one I recommended.  You will probably get a gratis response to your first question or two .. and if you need a phone consultation or an email chat consultation, it will be worth the modest fee.
