Hi again,  once again, if you are planning to move permanently to Mexico you should talk to the Mexican consulate near you home, also talk to Revenue Canada on the criterias to become a non resident of Canada.

Adios y buena suerte en su proyecto, GyC.

Why do I have to inform revenue Canada ?

Because you will become a non-resident of Canada so taxes are 15% for each dollar earned and could be less if you apply article 217 (in our case myself 12%, my wife 7% comparing to about 22% each while living in Quebec, Canada )

Everyone has to decide to reside in one place fulltime.

Adios y buen dia a todos, GyC.

Hi again "jeeper24", once again, you were saying to move PERMANENTLY to Mexico so that is why you would be considered a non-resident of Canada.

Adios y buen dia a todos, GyC.

I hope this reply is not too late to help. I recently moved to Playa del Carmen from CA and had many personal things shipped via UPS. Customs sent it back because paperwork was missing or filled out incorrectly. I am now having it reshipped and I’m paying much more than I paid initially.

I used Bike Flights to ship my bike and had no problems. I recommend using them, as I understand that Bike Flights can be used for shipping other personal things too.

Thanks for information on Bike Flights.  I'm also from Canada and we are moving to Playa.  However I was told by people in the forum to leave everything behind because of the logistics at the border.

For the most part, I think that advice is good. However, there are clothes and other personal things you may want to send by courier.

Hi Jeeper24,

I have created a separate thread with your posts on the Mexico forum for more visibility and interaction with the members.

Thank you,

Priscilla
