But permanent residency with property purchase is fine ... you don't need citizenship to do the things you need to do.....  I don't see the obsession with citizenship....

Can you imagine the expenses, If I need to keep my resident permit, I need to come every 6 months and with my studies, it's very difficult. I have to come during my annual leave and the cost of air tickets was too expensive during the school holidays. They took one and a half years to issue my residence permit and with a re-entry permit, I had to come to Cyprus every 3 months. Life is not as easy as you think Toon, especially when I am a student.

but you are also Sri Lankan and not Cypriot and as such you need to fulfil the citizenship criteria as laid down by the Republic of Cyprus ...and as it stands now you clearly dont satisfy that criteria .... am sorry but you cannot just change things just to suit you and what you have chosen to do ie live and study in a country that you chose .....yet want to be a citizen of another country and  not live in it or study in it....... Cyprus citizens are normally born here and live here or have family ties here - I realise how hard it may be for you and i am genuinely sorry but you seem to want the passport more than the citizenship....
