Post new topic

Does anyone have recommendations for brands, models, dealers of two-person scooters on or around the north coast?

Sorry,  I have almost no  info to help you on this. I know others will jump in.

Again try Nagua your closest town first. I bought a pasola there several years ago on the main street. They cost then well under one and a half thousand dollars for the likes of a Loncin. Hard to go wrong. Dealer sorts it all out for you.

Lennoxnev, we had to laugh.  "Nagua," must be our new Walmart!

Let me explain: we used to live at 9,000' and 30 miles plus from the nearest small town.  Whenever a store lacked something the answer to where the item might be found was always "Try Walmart."

We have seen plenty of dealers in the various towns, but hoped someone may have some specific recommendations. We recall oldish posts where folks obtained suggestions for vehicles and about a specific car dealer in Puerta Plata and hoped someone may have some specific pointers for pasolas.  Loncin does seem to have cornered a large chunk of the islands two and three wheeled motorcycle market.

From an earlier post you mentioned you were in Cabrera. Someone has to ride the new pasola back home and the ride from Nagua is infinitely shorter, better and safer than from towns to the west.

Anyhow after a bit of research, the place I bought the pasola was Importadora Ramos Motors, Calle Luperon, Nagua, (809) 694-2683. Very good service.

Prices vary little from town to town and it comes down to negotiation. In fact Nagua was cheaper than Bonao for the same model when I compared. They start with a price and you work them down. Yes it will be a fifty or a hundred dollars cheaper in Santo Domingo but then add the transport costs getting it home, and the costs if you have any issues under warranty.

Good memory.  We definitely agree about the road west (Gaspar Hernandez is always a chaotic  squeeze and the traffic thickens from there west).  Thanks for the  pointer.  We will check them out.

Gaspar Hernandez Juan... that’s west and not too far.

On the Main Street is a Pappaterra store....south side

They sell new and even have repos...
After people failed to pay
They have very miles , some and a nice discount

Perhaps they’ll deliver...if not, I have a man with a truck who’ll fetch it for you

Plus the King of Moto’s....MotoSan lives there

WillieWeb,  Sounds like a place we need to visit.  Thanks!

when I was looking a few yrs ago --- $1,000US did the trick for a very good Pasola
with 1500 miles or so...

They repossess them and then the borrower has 2-3 weeks to come current with his account.
If NO.... it gets sold and you get credited for the payments made
Full guaranty goes forward

I should point out that most Cabrera people go to Nagua for this purchase

lennox is right about that....

There is very little price flexibility - I ahve found

I went to Nagua w/ my main man for his buy.... had $1,000US in my pocket and played the 'Cash Card'
Made no difference to the guy.... none at all.
I was quite surprised

WillieWeb

I went thru Gasping Hernandez y'day....
Pappaterra Moto was closed

You need go no further than the Shell station...
The main intersection.......
Tauro is across the street and MotoSan is behind the gas station

It was at Tauro I saw the repo's

Sorry for the misinformation....it was old news - it seems
From 2-3 yrs ago

No problem, and thanks!

Suzuki is the brand most favored here by the locals who are motor geeks
Alot more bike for a little more $$

Maybe no pasolas....

Not in your area but there's a couple of Honda Silverwings post for sale out here in Sosua. They're excellent two up scooters but a little pricey.

WillieWeb

I had the Suzuki comparable model in the US..the Burgman

The Silverwing is excellent.... and Honda is the best
The one I saw was $4500 but flexible on price... on the Playero notice board

Yamaha trail and touring bikes here always caught my attention and there is a Yamaha dealer in Las Terrenas - Dominguez Motors. Not so far away.

Too far... Nagua got nixed
