@ThIGV, I stand corrected, it appears that only Embassies and Consulates on foreign soil are considered the soil of the resident country, military bases are not included. However, it appears that immigration law grants those born at military bases U.S. citizenship, until this action by the current administration.
I was just thinking out loud as to the legal actions that can be taken because some people are not going to be happy and for sure, considering legal action.
Thanks for the advice on the will. Currently I have all the life insurance going to my girl it is very clear I use northwestern mutual and pay 380 a month just because they are very well know and very good .... the rest of my assists go to my younger brother which I want to change eventually to go to her ... but we are not married yet and she is Vietnam citizen so I’ve left the USA property USA stocks all that shit to my brother to avoid making it complicated. I will consult an attorney this month. I will keep you guys updated on the 9th after the Saigon interview which I’m sure will be a denial. We in Singapore now boozing it up. They said a lot of Vietnam women been coming here illegally working and they cracking down on it. They didn’t give us a problem but that being said she was with me and they did ask. They said. O you with the American? Don’t know why it was relevant it is visa free country for Vietnam citizen but they said they’ve turned a few women around and prevented entering recently due to lack of proof of funds for traveling
Hey just a FYI for everyone. We recently as in tonight learned about the Singapore airlines A-380 first class it has king size bed and two recliners. It is absolutely first class and perfect. I think we might just get my grandparents a flight on that and they meet us in Singapore. Direct from LA USA. It’s comfortable and they can handle that. In case any one else is having same problem as us. Google. Singapore airline first class A-380

Just as I thought, a biased version of the facts and we know why. Now, the other side of the story:

As I previously stated and provided a link to the USCIS website on this matter, looks like U.S. immigration laws are going to be applied equally to all foreign born children of U.S. citizens and not giving automatic citizenship to those foreign born children of Military employees.

What does that ticket from the US cost? From SFO to SIN the airlines website quoted me $12,523 per person. I expect that there could be financial considerations for most of us.

I've looked at the photos and read the specs. It's a double bed (full in the States), not king:

I did a mock search and it's $16,591 pp for Oct.
Even if Abear has $33K for the tickets, it doesn't mean his grandparents can travel on their chosen dates.
- There are only 2 suites (2A and 2F, IIRC), each with one double bed (full size in the States) for 2 people travel together. The other suites have single beds.
- The single bed (27"x76") is smaller than a regular twin in the States (38"x75"). A berth on a train is 24" x 70", so the single bed on the A380 is longer but not much wider than a train berth.
- All suites are booked waaaaay in advance, some are more than a year ahead. The London-Singapore route is sold out for the next 2 years. The fare that I found disappeared when I returned 20 minutes later. Before that happened, there were only two dates with available flights in Oct. Nothing's available in Sept, Nov, and Dec.
- The suites with double beds are the first to go.
In addition, even with a double bed, the couple still have to eat their meals separately because there isn't a large enough dining surface for two trays. All the reviews I read concur that the suite's configuration leaves a lot to be desired.

Looks like there is more to the story and the initial press got it completely wrong.
https://reason.com/2019/08/29/military- … tizenship/
"The change will not apply to children born to any U.S. citizens serving in the military or otherwise working abroad. It will apply only in cases of foreign adoption by U.S. citizen parents, or children born to parents were not U.S. citizens at the time of the child's birth. A Department of Defense spokesperson said the shift would affect about 100 children annually."

Yea I contacted Singapore airlines yesterday they don’t even have anything direct from Houston that’s the triple 7. The A-380 does to Germany. :-/. So we back to either doing the Caribbean or if I could get them to go first class Eva air to Singapore and we meet them in Singapore. Eva air is direct from USA to Singapore and their first class is nice. We’ll see My grandpa already having a heart operation next month so highly doubt it’s going happen. We will end up going to Caribbean.
Yea I saw that I stand corrected. And the A-380 doesn’t go from USA to Singapore. Only chance would be if they will go first class Eva which is nice and has the lie flat maybe we’ll see after his surgery. If not it’s the islands for us. They already said they’ll go to Caribbean
Now I need to see how hard it will be for her to get a transit visa for Canada because the flights have lay overs there
Hey guys update on today’s visit at the Ho Chi Ming USA embassy. Got there at 1 o clock. Appointment was at 1:45 and we were told not to be more than 20 min early. Hard to tell because we had no phones. Anyway lady was all bitchy and told us back of the line. Ok no problem. Then we finally get there she says boyfriend can’t go even though I was the sponsor and signed the forms again ok so I go wait at the coffee shop with the other 100 people. After a hour she comes out with the big ole “you did not meet requirements by showing sufficient ties to your home country letter blah blah can not appeal but reapply pay fee blah blah “ I started laughing I said what a joke! We showed she has a home in Vietnam in her name which I bought her we showed both of my passports full of Vietnam visas showing I’ve lived here with her for years. We showed her private schooling and passing grads and receipts I’ve already paid her school through 2020 we showed the new motorcycle I just bought her and her dentist appointments all paid fully even the dental shit and appointments due in future even showed my income taxes for last two years all over 6 figures just from the ship not counting my real estate company also showed her travels over last two years with me and that we spend over 40k a year in foreign travel alone. The only thing that surprised me was that they actually took the time and reviewed everything and even read the letter I wrote stating I was fully aware of the fiancé visa blah blah but we do not want to live there we just want to see my grandparents. B.. a.. NO lol. Anyway looks like we heading to Caribbean it’s visa free and just a FYI for all you guys. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THAT VISITOR VISA! My girlfriend said the embassy was full of girls all the same story. Boyfriend over seas want to visit she said every single person got denied. Do not waste your time.
Sad to hear, but we told you...........
==> SHE <== has money, and not YOU paying everything.........
People with money / good job / millionaire never get denied...........
Yea her bank account was full of money but on the bank statements it was obvious the last two years it all comes from me hahaha Xoom transactions of over 3k a month for 2 years haha whatever f.. em. Well have fun in the Caribbean. I’m just glad this is over and we never have to talk about America visa again
I wish I could tell everyone not to waste their money. Such a shame the embassy scams so many people. I bet they make millions a year off that. They should just say obviously have millions or don’t apply but they don’t. They make it this way so suckers like me and others don’t know until we dig deep and get the shaft. Boy is it so crooked.

Yes, biggest scam by the USA State Department. Not just VN, all over the world in 3rd world countries, it is a daily common occurrence where hundreds line up and get rejected. Cannot imagine how much the U,S, government extorts from these poor folk. But of course, the government will never do as you suggested, why give up a cash cow for nothing in return but time?
Yes it’s a total scam. It should be like ok these are the requirements. Have 50k in bank. Have a job that earns this much or school that is this much accredited be between these ages such and such. It’s just a total money thing for USA to pocket cash. Never again I swear. Me and my girl planning our Vietnam wedding in April and after well honeymoon in Caribbean and meet my grandparents. Me and her both swore today never again. She was more pissed at how the ****some American criticized her for not speaking perfect English. I said yea we spend more on hotels and flights than he makes in a year tell him go *** himself and his 8 bucks a hour embassy job. Anyway hopefully any future expats will read all this form before making same mistake. Y’all have a good one
Reason : Using foul language
We invite you to read the forum code of conduct
Well, we DID tell you.
Well, at some point you're lucky to know to result that fast...
I mean, in Belgium (Europe), my Embassies can't denied a visa. Only the Immigration Office in Brussels can.
My Embassies can only grant it if the file is good looking/perfect............
So, if they find something strange/not good, they've to forward it to the Immigration in Brussels for further investigation/final decision, which generally take 3-4 months...
My significant other was denial twice in the past. It took them 3 months for the 1st request and 4 months for the second.
The wait was truly insane...
Same business for every country, not only the USA... (but tourist visa is cheaper in Europe - 60€/68$ )
In the UK, they don’t care if you have a million pounds in the bank. If you are down on paper as financially sponsoring her whole trip, you just need to show a balance that covers the stated length of trip and the stated budget per day and any expenses like flights and trains.
This is the second best option, the best being she has her own job with employment contract, her own naturally accumulated savings. This means they take her salary and work out where she saved the money from. Any sudden deposits within last 6 months is instantly scrutinised as a loan just for visa application.
The best way to approach it is state in covering letter that you have omitting her financial details since you are the one sponsoring her. Since you don’t submit any of her documents, they have nothing to reject you on based on sudden deposits or irregular desposits. They will only scrutinise your accounts and be lenient on it too.
Basically, you should have said. I’m paying for this, heres my documents... you don’t need to see her bank statements and If she had a job and labour contract she’s less of a fight risk in their eyes.
Had worked well for me 4 times for the UK and Schengen but not sure about the US. We want to try for a wedding there but I got a feeling we’re pushing our luck as I’m not a US citizen. Some have said this might work to my advantage and make it easier but I don’t want to risk getting her “blacklisted” making future applications harder. We’ll go when the times right, like when we’ve married.
I know people who have tried for visa’s but jumped the gun and have forever been stuck explaining past rejections because of irregular deposits into bank accounts. After 6 months these deposits will have dissapeared from the statements but there’s still a reference to their rejection based on those grounds that they have to explain. Whilst not technically blacklisted, I call it that as they will never get a visa now without legal help.
My friend applies for schengen visa to france and failed as they ask her where this money has come from as you only earn this much. She tries again and fails again.
She then proceeds to apply for belgium visa with her bf financially sponsoring her. They refer it back to Belgian government which takes months and they being part of schengen pull up her past failed applications in France. Had she of gone through the process like this from the start they would have been successful getting into belgium. But now, they have a reference to her french application and even quoted it in their rejection letter. Now they have to see an immigration lawyer as In Belgium they only recognise marriages in Belgium and she can’t get in to marry. Catch 22 init. Moral of the story, don’t rush it as it can cause you a lot of problems.
All I know now is NEVER AGAIN! Haha I know y’all told me so but I didn’t join this group till after we already paid and did the 160 form so I figured hell with it we going try since we already paid. But never again! The only time I’ll be seeing the USA is when I’m stepping on and off the ship. ;-)
You say that but you have better chance now than in future. I see it like, they reject you on these bullet points. Try again addressing them. If you leave it to try again later the whole failed application will be hanging over you.
I would personally try again in your situation because eventually you might want her to visit you there. Providing flights details for your grandparents and saying look we had to do this because you failed our first application will strengthen your case.
Anyway, I know the ins and outs of UK visa applications but maybe US ones are out of my depth. I was seeking advice myself.
Yea it’s a lot different. Total bull on the USA visa side. I’m kind of wondering if traveling to countries like Taiwan and Korea and Europe will be any easier for us once we are married? We are planning a wedding in April in Can Tho Vietnam. We spend most of our vacation time in Singapore and Philippines because we have a lot of friends in Philippine. Although we got a couple more spots on our list we want to see. Estonia, Poland, Germany and ideally Taiwan because I am always in Taiwan for lay overs and she wants to go there because the weather is colder. I’m going meet with an immigration attorney next month before I depart on the ship and will get the scoop and update you guys here just Incase anyone wants the info.
Not sure if this is still an active thread. However there’s one option you did not mention. That is the student visa route. Grated she’s not a kid and that would be obvious but she could be going there for her masters or advanced degree. The main thing you’d have to do would be to get her sponsored by a university in your general area. I didn’t notice if she had a bachelors or not. This is the route we took to get my gf here in the US - then there was no hurry to get married - and frankly in her situation she had no real reason to come back to VN besides her family.
She was 28 at the time - got a sponsorship from a university that had 2 year programs for English. She attended that school and on my advice skipped the idea of a masters and enrolled in Nursing school and the rest is history as hey say. One of the other things we did to be safe was go to the church county courthouse and get a quickie marriage in front of a judge got our license and waited a few months then went back to VN and had a proper wedding with family and friends. Our time in front of the interviewer was a little longer - but we had the whole nine yards of documentation including wedding pics and all. Everything went smoothly. Not that it wasn’t stressful during the time we were going thru everything - but it all worked out well. If you’re still searching for a solution - you might try that route.
I hope by this point you’re married and living in your dream house in the US somewhere.
