Hello community I'm looking for help, please advice

After a long and difficult process I manage to get an offer of 26k AED to work on Abu Dhabi in the informatic field. I know nobody in this country and I'm looking for advice.

With this salary would I be able to life comfortable? I'm not married and I have no children.

What really worries me is that I do not know how to drive and I have read that distance are too big and paying taxi every day can be costly.

Is bus transportation accesible? I have read that is not very good, the company is located near Al Raha Boulevard are buses available near this location?

Rent is also expensive, would be better a furnished apartment?

Thanks and sorry for to much questions. I really appreciate any information or thoughts you can share.

Guv

Hi Gab

Out of the 26K AED/month, are you paying accommodation, DEWA, etc.,?
If you're single then it's a good deal but depends on your life style, and what you are used to.
I understand where you are coming from as I too asked the very same question...

Hello, yes from the 26k I need to pay rent which I think will be 4775 dirham.

Cellphone bill is included, same as 100% health care and dental health, life insurance, 22k relocation allowance (3 payments on the First 3 months), 1 ticket every year to fly back to my country, education (certifications).

The total salary is 26k and I must pay my rent. I'm single, I do not expect to live in luxury since I don't think I would be able to with this salary.

What does it mean DEWA? They will pay for the attestation of documents and medical test and any other process for my Visa ...and First 4 weeks they will pay a hotel for me while I get Visa ready and an apartment to live

Guv

DEWA is the utilities: water, gas, electric, etc.,
Depends on the industry you're working in and at what level. To me the calculation is very simple: Compare what you are getting to what you earn at home now, if you earn the same plus benefits in AD then it's a win situation, if more then its a clear decision.
Best thing to do is see where the company is located, find suitable apartments or consider flat sharing locally, that way your travel and other expenses will be minimised.
Out of interest what industry are you working in?

If you live a simple lifestyle, you should be fine.  Al Raha is not close to the city of Abu Dhabi but taxis are cheap here compared to NYC or London.  If you take a taxi from Al raha to the city center, you're probably looking at 60-70dhs (30min drive).  There is a mall close by and there are various other outlets like restaurants closer to you so you're not situated in the middle nowhere.

As for the package, I think it's quite decent. You'll be able to find cheap accommodation if you don't have high expectations. Considering you're single, you won't have that many expenses.  Like the others have said, if the package is better than what you're earning right now, then I think that's worth the relocation.

Hello fayvir,

I was planning on living near Khalifa City since is near and taxi is less expensive. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom apartment furnished which cost around 4475 AED, not sure about Water, Gas and others since some apartments include this services others not.

For sure payment is better from what I'm getting on my country there is a different of 14k AED every month on salary but, rent is expensive and I do not know how much could I spend on taxi/transportation.

Is bus services accessible on Abu Dabi?

Gab1234

Hello Guv,

Thanks for all the replies and info you have shared. I'll be working as a Level 2 Cyber Security Analyst and 26k is the highest amount of salary I was able to get. Salary is way better from what I'm getting but rent is expensive and I do not know is bus transportation is accessible.

About utilities some apartments include some of the utilities others not. So I will needs to look for the one that fits best to me, I looking for 1 bedroom apartment hopefully furnished.

But I'm wondering if this salary is enough to live normally and  save some money.

Thanks

fayvir

There are bus services which are 2dhs per ride. There is an app that you can download and it tracks the buses in real time.

If you want, you can also look for a studio apartment which might be cheaper than a 1-bedroom apartment.

Good luck!

If you can’t live on 26k as a single person your lifestyle is too extravagant. I’m getting 21k and I’m married and living ok. When my wife gets a job anywhere near that we will be laughing. If I was single I would definitely be saving money. Yes it’s more expensive over here and I can’t tell you about the taxi situation but the best bet is to stay in a hotel the first few weeks then find out who can offer you a lift every day then rent an apartment in that area. You can also learn to drive in the uae.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information. I did accept the offer and I will be moving on May. Will stay in a hotel for the first 3-4 weeks while I look for an apartment.

I was talked where I'm going to work and is on Abu Dhabi City center so bus service is definitely available. Right now I'm looking for apartments, reviewing information and checking were can I possibly live as much comfortable as possible.

Thanks for the information, any tips will be highly appreciated

26k is not a bad deal. you will still be able to live a comfortable life with the salary.
