Managing day to day life with language for a non Swedish speaker

Post new topic

GuestPoster84

Dear all,

I am thinking of moving to Sweden for my higher studies and would like to know about day to day living with English language.

For the time being I do not know Swedish at all and I heard that locals would like if the expats speak in their own language even though they can manage English really well..

Would like if you can share your experience being in Sweden.

Highly appreciate your support.

Yes some people speak English as well but as you already mentioned it's generally not a preferred language.

In your experience how hard was it at the beginning to find your part time jobs etc?

I didn't study here but I have met a few people who have studied here. Its not easy to get part time work knowing just English. Some help is available from student bodies but its not assured.

As I've written in many topics before. To get good contacts and jobs in sweden you'll need to learn the language. This is like other countries in europe. In france you'll need to learn french, in Italy Italian and so on.
I suggest some liks with free swedish courses on world-info.se. Check them out here>>>

98% Swedish people speak Swedish fluently. But they prefer Swedish for jobs. If we want to enjoy the life in Sweden I think we must learn their language. I was learning basic Swedish on Duolingo for a few months and everyday chat in Swedish with my fiance, my Swedish is improving day after day. So I think the best way to learn Swedish is via native speakers. I listen to Radio på lätt svenska podcast everyday. Hope you can find some way to study Swedish.
