2 weeks in Cuenca

Hi All,

We are Steve and Karen from NC. We are planning a retirement within 5 years and are considering Cuenca. We visited Quito, Mindo and the Galapogos last year. We are planning on spending 2 weeks in Cuenca this year and would like to get involved in the community and meet some people while we are there.

Interested in suggestions for activities and day trips. We are especially interested in Whale watching and was wondering if there are any tours that leave from Cuenca.

The whale watching season was June, July, August last year. We took a tour out of Puerto Lopez and had lots of up close encounters with Hump Backs.

Hi Frank,
Where did you go for whale watching last year? We have a home in southern Ecuador and are not real familiar with Puerto Lopez. Can you share more about where you went or what expediton company you used?

We stayed at a B&B in La Entrada. Puerto Lopez is 30 min. north of Montanita. The tour was booked through the B&B and I do not remember the tour company. There are several in Puerto Lopez and should be easy to find on-line.
