funny thing is that if i posted something like this, i would be told to move the post to the classified/personnel area and not in the general forum.

that sounds crap, buddy. U r from Pakistan, studied in UK, hate saudi arabia, m sure had you tried hard enough you could have found your better place to live.

Ok most of the non-arab expats don't like it much here (even i am not much fond of this place) but to complain that it is not a place to live and living here just to find some work, its all BS !!

i have interacted with many asians here and putting in the words said by many pakistani and indian nationals residing in this country - "read the figures on how many asians living here especially from pakisatan, india and bangladesh...most of the people who come here from these countries are here not because that there are not good salary jobs in their countries but because they are incompetent to face and survive the job market in those countries itself (for whatever reason). And GCC is the easy way out of this problem for these people. The false and mythical support of already having a relative in Saudi bring them here in this country with expectations of high salaried jobs."

I know many people will get offended by these comments but lets face the reality and accept the facts. If you are in Saudi, not earning a very good salary (as per Saudi Standards) and still living and working here then you are failure on work front. And i said MOST (more than 80%) not all....so if you don't fall into this category then good for you but if you also want to argue on this in support of others then you are most welcome.

PS: the same goes for a western expat working on a low salary.

So, Lets Dance and start the show now. . . . . .

TheLoneRanger

FYI - i'm neither saudi nor arab

Alliecat

I will add that some people may come here with high skills, but this is an easy place for skills to atrophy.

But you know, this is OFF TOPIC! and it would make a very interesting thread so, LR, why not make it a separate thread??

jahdali

id like to talk on that thread for sure

Im currently hiring for my company and what people claim on their CVs and what they say in interviews are worlds apart so definitely have insight there for sure

TheLoneRanger

Suggest a good title for it.....

jahdali

Are you really as good as you think you are??

hows that for a topic name

A seperate thread would be better.

I too am hiring for my company (though it's not part of my job). I do assist HR sometimes. Trust me my requirements are simple and I have interviewed at least 10 guys in the past week and not even a single person came upto the mark. Is it normal to find such a good number of ineligible people as job-seekers all the time?

About the CVs, I always say that people love writing what THEY WISH TO BE, rather than what THEY ARE. Some credit goes to the awerness spread by various books, websites, software whose intention is to teach the best use of buzz words to build a glittering CV. People misuse such awareness.

who will admit that he/she is not.....

TheLegendLeads

No one :)

Better make it like:
'Are you really as good as in your CV?'

jahdali

i would expect that the aim of that thread would be to make people realise the truth about themselves

it shouldnt be the objective to name and shame but rather to discuss how it is more important to really know your worth and aim to under commit and over deliver !

Legend: I totally agree about the CVs and the biggest culprit are these resume writing services where people just copy paste experience from similar resumes and claim to have reworked the resume and their recommendation is to memorise and study their CV before the interview and I am often wondering if you have done this so well, why do you need to memorise it to talk about in an interview

how about taking it out of CV and making it a general forum on    "how good are you?"

let everyone brag about themselves.....the more one brags on open forum, the more shallow the person would be !!

whats say ??

TheLoneRanger

and let everyone who post there, to write something which she/he has not mentioned in their profile....

jahdali

hey i really like your idea
we will attract heaps of wonderful people like the guy who claimed the best is to be had with him and no one else earlier in this thread

Well, after giving it considerable thought, I've come to the conclusion that he's welcoming the British girls who posted once, almost a year ago, and who may or may not have ever come to Jeddah.

THAT'S who he is welcoming, because he's just a real hospitable kinda guy ;)

It was the post before my last post, but he obviously deleted it.

clairecraigmurphy seems to be a genuinely nice person but I'm afraid he's a bit lost in a forum :) Maybe he's not reading the threads from the beginning, which really is a necessity if you want to be on tract.
