Hi all,

I'm considering a job offer to move to SG. I'm a single guy with no dependants. The salary on offer is approximately $6500 p/m. I know this a popular question but wanted to ask specific to my situation. I imagine my base outgoings will be as follows:

Accommodation-Shared Condo with 2 others max (heard this is better than HDB).
Gym- Ideally modern, pool, sauna etc.
Phone- at least 10GB data approx 500 mins per month.
Health insurance-(no medical issues) would probably want more than just basic.

Of course being new to SG its likely I would spend a fair amount on entertainment/socialising initially while I settle etc.

Can someone please help give estimations on how much the above would cost?

Thanks In advance

Accommodation-Shared Condo with 2 others max (would cost $1000 at least)
(heard this is better than HDB).
Gym- Ideally modern, pool, sauna etc. (already part of condo facilities, you may join gym separately it would cost $200-$300)
Phone- at least 10GB data approx 500 mins per month. (Would cost $80-$100)
Health insurance-(no medical issues) would probably want more than just basic. (Would cost $150 - $200)

All are monthly expenses. Entertainment has different meaning. Are you referring to movies, pub/karaoke- would cost $200 to $1000)

In separate, transportation, food bills, PUB (electricity & water bill) etc can be added based on your usage.

- higher class shared accommodation based on your description; S$1000-2000/month
- other regular expenses (phone, Internet, insurance, etc.) S$200-400/month
- transport S$100-1000/month (depending on how often you take a taxi)
- entertainment S$200-2000 or even more (depending on frequency and spending choices)

Altogether, a S$6500/month salary is above the average for a whole family here. So you should be fine - unless you have unrealistic expectations or habits.
