Hello, I plan to move to Amsterdam very soon and I believe 125 scooter could be a good way to transport to my future workplace from Amsterdam city center. I have two questions, I hope someone could help:

- I have the car french driving licence (cat B), in France with this licence it is tolerated you drive 125 cm3 motorcycle or scooter (like with driving licence A1). Is it the same in the Netherlands ?
- Considering it will live in the very center of Amsterdam (basically not far from train station), what are the rules regarding parking. Is parking free and tolerated in this area ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

With a car licence, you can ride a moped (up to 50cc) without taking a further test;

Parking is a nightmare anywhere in Holland, with Amsterdam being particularly bad; if you are living near the Central station, there is a tram service that operates from outside your front door, you won't need a moped.  Our family friend has to catch a bus to get to where he has been able to park his car.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the tips, so I will buy a scooter which is "licence cat B compatible". I will try to park it on the south along a tram line.

Have a good day
