Advice for a family moving to Mauritius in January

Post new topic

Good day everyone!

We are excited to be moving over to Mauritius with our 3 sons in January from the UK. A lot to sort out between now and then! We will be based in the West.

I wondered if anyone could recommend /advise on

-Estate Agents to talk to about finding a rental house
- Car Leasing/Rental company for long term car lease
- Thoughts on schools - our boys are 9, 7 and 5
- Rugby! Are there any local children's clubs? I know it's not the most popular sport in Mauritius but the boys are mad about it!
Also, is there anything we can't put in the shipping container (like can we put a case of wine in there).

Thank you in advance!

Good day.

Congrats on your next move to Mauritius.

Quite a few realty agents with operations on the West Coast. I would suggest you visit L'express Property to find the whole selections of agents and properties.
Park Lane Properties is quite active around there.

Lots of leasing/rental companies depending on your type of vehicle and finances.
Most banks and insurance companies offer leasing options to customers.
Car dealership agencies also offer financing customized for your needs and profile.
You can SBM Auto Lease, MCB Motor Finance, Rogers Capital Finance, etc.

Quite a few private schools with English and French teaching medium in the West, North and central urban areas of the island.

There are a few rugby clubs created by expats in the West and the North. There is even a local rugby league if I'm not mistaken.

Regarding shipping technicalities, I would recommend you check with your freight forwarding company or agent to inquire about what you can or cannot ship in your type of container.

Thank you so much for your reply. Really glad to hear about the rugby, the boys will be relieved. Am going to start getting hold of the leasing companies. We are all looking forward to arriving especially given the constant rain in Europe atm.
