We’re visiting in January. And while we know we will have wireless, we don’t know how “smart” our tv will be.
Has anyone had any experience with either of these device? Can we connect with our Netflix and Amazon streaming services?

If the TV you're using has a HDMI plug in the back you'll be good to go.

Firestick, much easier to use.

I have a fire stick and I love it!   Works just fine as long as your internet is good!

Be aware that while Netflix and Prime will work here, you will get different programming unless you have VPN to make it think you're in the US.  We bought an inexpensive router with built in VPN capability and connect our Roku to that router. The Firestick or Smart TV would work the same way.

We are now using a Roku that we brought with us that already had Prime installed. From here, we were not able to add the channel to the Roku that was purchased in DR.
