Electronics with different voltages have no issues working with each other. Most modern sets also accept PAL, NTSC, etc. Also, make sure the dvd is set to the correct region. Easy enough to reset.

Soup spoons are not available in the Philippines and using a dessert spoon for noodle meals etc takes ages and can be sloppy. Bring a few extras. If you like boiled eggs in the morning bring some small spoons and also one of those small contraptions for slicing off the top.
If you are a gardening type bring also some "Rooting compound"

Foreignors cannot buy a house and lot, I dont care if you want to do a 50 year lease, trust, or other means. Not worth it.  Condos, only if majority of units owned by Philippinos.

The advice below is probably moot by now, as tushima might have already arrived here in the Philippines.

The kitchen / dining implement that I can't find here was a crab / lobster shell cracker with crab picks.  I lost my set while in the process of packing / moving. :(

Hardware stores are for building supplies.
We tried for soup spoons in SM and Robinsons department stores.

Who wants to use a flat spade shaped Chinese soup spoon anyway?
