Japan tourist visa for Filipino

Post new topic

LB95

Hello guys,

I want to take my filipina girlfriend to Japan, but I have a few concerns, here is the situation:

She has been an OFW for the past 6 years and just ended her contract at the end of January, she has some savings and before she finds work in the PH again we want to travel a bit to different countries including Japan.
The thing is I saw how shitty visa procedures are in the Philippines, and I'm afraid she will get denied. For me I have no problem entering and exiting Japan, but I heard that it's a big hassle for Filipino...

We booked and paid for (almost) everything already: hotels, flights & activities
The only things that need to be paid are the food and transportation, but having lived in Japan alone I have no problem managing money here

Anyway, I heard the fact that she doesn't have work will play against her in their decision, especially since I am not applying as her guarrantor for the visa.
That being said I'm thinking about giving her a copy of my Japanese residency card, my passport and a letter or something stating our relationship status

I really don't know what I can give for her tourist visa to have higher chances of being accepted. If you have any tips, dos and donts so that it's processed as smoothly as possible, it would be much appreciated because I don't know alot about the philippine immigration.

Thanks

PS:  I will go to the philippines in 3 days and we will apply directly, so I don't have time to redo all the documents in order to apply for a visitor visa, also, our flight for Japan is on feb 22

I'm not sure why you keep referring to Philippine Immigration as being difficult for the visa. Any issues obtaining a tourist visa for Japan will rest with the Japanese authorities.  I have heard it is not that difficult for Filipinos to go there, compared to the US or Europe for example. Where was she an OFW? That might make it easier, as at least she has traveled abroad and worked.

The potential issue that can arise in Philippines is depending on the age of your girlfriend and how long you have been together, they may not allow her to leave for open-ended travel, as there will be a concern that she is being trafficked. But if you have proof of your relationship and itinerary, she has funds, and you are accompanying her, there shouldn't be a problem.

First time I took my girlfriend out of the country (to Singapore and Thailand) we were both interviewed separately by Philippines Immigration before they let her on the plane. I was surprised as she was by then in her late 30's. We had been together 2 years by then and had photos, proof of local travel, residency together, etc.

Good luck. Enjoy your trip.

Agreed;

My 2 cents worth,

When exiting philippine immigration yr gf and you may be interviewed, and they will require your *referal relationship doc /photo's /cash for stay/return trip details.

On entering Japan Immigration ; Yes a lot of questions : since both of you are travelling together and are only on holiday, it should be ok provided you  show all *referal doc/photo's/*her own cash/hotel stay in Japan/return flight details, and all this is under the presumption that yr gf OFW status was NOT wif Japan...if she was, then this may be a sticky point.

So since all your plans have been made, just be ready with your best behaviour and appeal you case.

Good Luck

Ah really, I'm not sure... since Japan is a quite expensive country I thought the Philippine authorities would be more strict etc. Also from the blogs I've read of other filipinos being rejected, I got a bit paranoid

She was an OFW in Iraq, where the situation is quite unstable... that might make the visa process easier as it sounds like she had good reasons to leave her job there (even though the recent events were not the actual reason of her leaving)

She's 28 and I'm 24 and we have known each other for 1 year and been together... I'm guessing in our situation there shouldn't be any problem if that's the case

Thank you!
It seems like relationship proofs will be more important than I thought!
