I got my medical certificate and I am not really sure whats going on. I think I passed my test. I got my medical certificate in Al Safa this morning and it is mentioned "free from infectious disease" then I went straight to DNRD to submit my document for stamping.
Alhamdulillah! I hope I can fully relax now. I have been under stress ever since the new rule came. I will still continue to pray for other people. May God protect everyone of us.

Dear All:
It is frequently asked by members of this forum whether same rules apply else where in Gulf and Middle East Countries. This is a very valid question. Over the last two years or so, I have researched this to some extent and arrived at the following conclusion:
1- Qatar: testing for HBV is based on profession. So, if the applicant is not into medical career, hair saloon, food handler etc there will be no requirement to test for HBV. To get more insight into this you can refer to the following forum
http://www.qatarliving.com/discussion/m … -02dec2006
Actually, this forum lists posts from year 2006 until present. You will have to be patient and read through quite a bit to reach this conclusion.
2- Saudi Arabia: Testing for HBV is not required. I know this because I was contemplating a job offer from Saudi. A friend of mine living there did some research and asked around and got me insider information that it is not required. Having said that, I'm not sure if they would still test for those sensitive professions like Qatar and the new awaited law in UAE
3- Kuwait: testing for HBV is required. I got this information from Kuwait Oil Company brochure. Go to the following link
http://www.jerryvarghese.com/applyonlin … 04&FLAG=83
and click on
"To know more about working with Kuwait Oil Company click here"
Although this is a brochure of Kuwait Oil Company, it gives useful general information about obtaining visa and medical tests required.
4- Libya: Testing for HBV is required. You can refer to the following link:
https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=22129
5- Oman: not clear. Some people indicated that they had to test before traveling to Oman. Some where asked to test for HBV and other did not have this problem. So, I don't have confirmed info
6- Bahrain: not clear. But I know for sure that Bahrain has implemented the requirement to do medicals before traveling to Bahrain. They have designated centers in different countries.
This is what I know so far and it should be reliable information. I hope that this will be useful to you guys.

NOT AGREED WITH THIS STATEMENT from qatarliving.

Hi,
My wife is in a similar situation. But she is with me on a visit visa waiting for this rule to implement and then apply for residency. In my case when my wife did test in january 2010 she got HBsAg positive but the medical staff was nice enough to not black list her. They call me and explain to me that it is better to keep your wife on visit visa until the rule change. So I am praying uptil now and InshaAllah everything would be normal.
So, do not undergo any medical test and wait for that rule to implement since rule is same for new residency visa for house wives also.
stresslady wrote:pls help me... my husband will take me there in dubai. i am hbsag positive, im so scared to undergo for a hbv testing. is it true that applying for dependent visa (housewife) will not undergo for that test? or is it the same for residence visa that will undergo for xray, hbv test? im praying every single day just to be with my husband there. pls. help me. godbless.
Hi,
I just came to know about this blog. There is lot of helpful information on this blog. I also have a long story of my HBV in UAE. I'm here for the last 6 years in UAE. Again i just change my job. I went back to my home country and now in Dubai on employment visa. I got job in Jafza. may be next week i have to appear for medical. I don't know the date but my pro has submitted the documents.
I also came to know that for Jafza employment visa you only have to go for medical within jafza. is it true? Can i go for Braha hospital for my jafza visa medical?
at this situation what i have to do?
waiting for kind reply.

Yes, I think it's within jafza, the one in jebel ali village. For new visa, I recommend u not to take the risk of going there now since the new law havn't been implemented yet. Check with your PRO or just get someone go for you...do you know what I mean?

Dear Perdanasisna / Dennisp
The way you share the information is excellent.
According to Denis Information about testing of HBV in Qatar on Professional basis is wrong information.
Please provide the authentic information or quote the references which support your information,
Similarly the Information provided for Saudi is also incorrect because I checked my self the medical fitness certificate shows this test
http://www.saudiembassy.net/files/PDF/MedicalReport.pdf
Could you please provide the references for the information had been collected by your friend in Saudi as you mentioned.
Thanks
Shah

Dear friends,
You all providing good information about medical screening in dubai or abu dhabi. I can understands the importance of cheking HBV for those six catogaries ( medical staff, nanies, food handlers etc) I also belive that there may be two types of screening, one which required by dubai /abu dhabi govt visa law and other one required by employing company. So in my view govt law apply on those six catagories for HBV test but few internation oil and gas companies may consider HEPATITUS-B as unfit. So those companies can request for HEPATITUS test and if it was positive then they can deport that person.
These are vjust my assumptions, may be wrong. What your thoughts on this?
Can any body find out from ADCO, GASCO, ZADCO, ADMA-APCO oil companies medical screening procedure for emlployement and residence visa please.
yes he went for medical test and he is hbv positive but inactive, me and my kids don't have it..their pro attached his cancelled visa on the documents to be submitted in the medical center maybe he was considered renewal that's why he got fit to work certificate....
Hi believer,
When did this happened. Recently? Please share between which emirates he transfered and from which hospitals?

Congratulation for all who have been frustrated because of HBV test for visa!!
I confirm perdanasiswa's post. I have gone through the link. The new law will be effective since this week. For Arabic readers, below is the article from Albayan newspaper.
CONGRATULATIONS EVERY ONE.

Hello,
Please clarify this to me "and some other professions within the system of medical examination of the entrants for the granting of residence or to renew it"
And in the case of a worker's spouse asking for residency but not working, does she has to take the HBV test?
I would say no need, is this correct ?
Tks
Dennis

That remains to be discovered. But I agree with you, there should be no restriction now on house wife (as it is called by officials in UAE). After all, the amendment is clear, HBV tests will now be limited to certain categories that do not include House wives.
Now that the new amendment is approved and applied, i would like to recommend that members of this forum who are inside UAE go directly to "preventive medicine" departments and ask them for clarifications about the status of house wives.
We helped each others so far, So I call upon you to do this to help our brothers/sisters who are worried about this tiny ambiguity.

pls dont get confused.... it says as it was until 2008... so not to worry...and yes d spouse should not have any prob for renewal or new.....confirmed with d nurse @ healshe sth centre...she says law same like before.....6 categories....
Congratuilation to everyone. I will cal Preventive Medicine tomorrow and confirm this for all of you.

Following this great initiative, could we imagine that all the middle east countries will follow the UEA and remove this Hep test from their residency requirements. Lets hope.
