Hello,

what do you think of creating an event or a meeting point in bali where to exchange opinions directly?

I don't think creating an event or meeting is useful in Bali. Expats seem to know exactly what they are doing, where to get this or that and already have a pretty defined opinion of life in Bali. Rather than that, if you are looking for friends or want to meet other expats then just hang out at the places that others hang out. When we lived there we were friends with lots of parents from the children's school, from people in the business community (garment business) and knew lots of commission agents. But on our time off or whenever meeting our friends it was always pretty relaxed and just chit chatting, talking about what was going on, a bit or gossip and about the kids and school. Actually pretty much the same as everywhere else I have lived.

I sometimes join with people from around the Asia-Pacific region for once a year lunch meet ups on another site, but again there is never any serious talking, just having a good time and enjoying the food.

Also, I have noticed that even in places such as Jakarta there is not much interest for get together. Everyone seems more involved in their family life or hang out with their own friends. I think there is less chance of pulling something off like that in Bali as so many already consider themselves experts and have pretty fixed ideas about things. Furthermore, so many of the expats in Bali are foreigners that have retired there.

I agrre about Jakarta, as in every metropolis in the world, people are selfish, while Bali is far from that.
There are many groups of exapt on facebook where people organize to go out together to talk face to face what they usually type, wich is what the OP means, I guess.
