There are two, and only two things I miss from Brazil: The food and the fruit.
When you guys talk about food it brings memories and makes me want to go to some local Brazilian restaurant, but they are closed.
Must be patient.

The PY Pres. announced a 4 step process for PY. Next Monday some small business's 800 sm of less may reopen. (No bars, food courts etc.)
From what I read nothing about helping those on the bridge, but Itaipu may find a solution since it is Binational between PY and BR. Itaipu has been a savior in Foz. Donating over $R 7 million to the hospitals and obtaining equipment for healthcare workers. The also have picked my little Vila for a new tech center for business. (Do not know if more traffic or housing prices will increase?
I scratched my head as to who has money to buy things, but I guess the small shops will have jobs for some at least.
Who knows. Recent article praised PY as having the least exposure in S. A., but who was responsible in reporting such?

They´ve lost their faculties. Covid-19 could have already caused encephalitis in all Alaskans. They have the easiest regulation in acquiring firearms; unlicensed stores can sell them; you can carry a firearm without obtaining a CCW license. It´s like the wild west there in your state Grizz!
São Paulo´s ICU hospitals close to full capacity and yet the peak possibly will come in 2 weeks time. I anticipate the governor ordering a lockdown anytime soon. See the mass graves dug in São Paulo as a preparation...

I heard the same remark from my Brazilian work colleagues today. We have all been ordered to work from home at my company since lockdown first began around March 6th. Three months later and only now the city is getting serious about it. I understand it has been very difficult for the governor and for other Brazilian states who feel the same, the Sao Paulo governor seems to have favoured a lockdown for quite some time, but has faced lots of obstruction from the presidential office. Personally, it is difficult trying to do the right thing and live under lockdown for such a long period and it would be easier for me to ignore the warnings and carry on regardless, but in my position that's not responsible and puts me at a disadvantage to what I believe in. Lockdowns can only work if the majority of people follow suit, three months on and it is still not happening there in S.P. and I am concerned that this will not go away any time soon.
I hate to say it, but by now in our house we're observing the lockdown rigorously about 90% to protect ourselves from the people who are out there infecting each other, and only 10% to protect the community at large. That cat is out of the bag and prowling free; now it's mostly about getting through it without becoming another statistic.
bloomboy & Ab3, I'm in the same camp with y'all, the Governor of SP was right, I heard back in March he had :Lockdown Enforced:, my freind there in Mogi stated 3 months at that time and I laughed and said nawl and WTFACE and was in disbelief of that long, yet the days are being what they are, she told me the truth....

The Upper Echelon #1, you know who I mean ...Mr. it's just a "Little Flu" fughed it up and got it all wrong, yelling the "Sky is Falling aka the "Economy" and yes now the economy will suffer more for the "Madness".. and the W8n.....two health ministers quit, the "Judge" quit and the people need to wake up...
Brasil is like a Iceberg now , we only see 10th of it....
We are at the beginning of this thing and as Doc said and I said the "Powers" that be should have shut Everything down like the Governor of SP, the worse is yet to come, the good thing is the people are learning to Wash there hands,.....maybe....
What makes me crazy when I arrived is people eating with 3 utensils everything from finger food to meals and culture shock, who eats Pizza with a knife and fork, then the revelation "Nobody Washed there flipn "Hands" it's like a "Right of Passage"....
I use to/lol/ go to buffet style lunches and in come the people no one washed there hands , they just grabbed plates and the serving spoon that everyone uses...yet that was the norm...I guess the ones felt a shower 3-4 times a day keeps the "Hands" clean all day...that's my Rant......
Stay Safe for I see no relief until September and maybe January 2021....
The Vaccine........here is a thought...
There is a Vaccine for the Flu, yet People are Still dying........get back with me, at 64 years of age I ain't taking shit, I am throwing it thou..lol...

Yup trying to keep my family here away from local zoos. Not hard as I've always worked from home so going out is not a big thing for me.
At this point I've hired someone to do grocery's for me, we wash them on arrival.
Upgrades to internet - i just have them tell me what they want to do then i do the work myself.
Neighborhood doesn't even go near my house as my dogs lose their shit if anyone goes near the front gate.
( They used to as i originally extended the garage roof to be nice when it rains for shelter ).
I think at worst case scenario is where i buy a gun in the event the dogs fail but i don't think will ever get to that point ( praying )

The "Rude North Americano" takes care of the social distancing, I speak Americano and that gives me a wide berth,I was standing in line with my lady.👄 at the bill office and this jerk asks me something he works there sitting on his large body about my mask, I had no intentions of entering , my lady was entering so he starts with his authority and I shoot back in Americano he shut up quick....and yes I take my mask and beaver everywhere with me...lol..
I am still trying to figure out the "Curfew" I suspect the city is spraying at nightt......I guess for "Mosquitos".....
Being in a Country caught up in "Customs and Traditions " I have the Party Neighbor, I wonder how his kids sleep at night , I have become accustomed to the loud music and the sing along...lol...Sleep just fine.
I am not about a Vaccine, I am about a " Healthy Immune System" I need 60 proof, the best I can do is Bombay Sapphire. ....it cleans the pipes......wish I could find "Bookers".
I´m so accustomed with everything in Brazil that I´m immune to almost anything. Loud music? I don´t hear them anymore... Barking dogs? Now music to my ears... That´s real immunity. I´m now grabbing real quick a Heineken as I hear strange sounds from my newly-wed neighbor!

Nowhere have I seen a lack of respect for other people`s need to sleep as I have seen in Mexico.
I remember two awful occasions:
In a project for Tequila Cuervo, in Guadalajara, we were staying at the Crown Plaza. My room window was right by the large gazebo they had in the courtyard and, one a Wednesday evening some people rented the place to celebrate a wedding and the mariachis were going full blast right by my window. I called the front desk several times after 10 PM, as I had to be up by 6 AM and usually need 8 hrs. sleep to function. At 11 I finally told them that I was going to call the police, and the noise finally stopped.
Another instance was when after leaving Brazil with the family and living in a wealthy neighborhood in Chihuahua, our neighbor decided to have a party, again in the middle of the week, and way past midnight, he decided to take over the mariachis and, drunk as he was, start singing in the mike. I was about to throw something at his swimming pool, as I knew that the police would do nothing to upset a millionaire, so I had to endure until 4 AM.
Those are the two times I remember well, but there were other times.
Brazil is now the official COVID-19 silver medalist behind only to the US of A. It kills 2 doctors a day at present and now totalling 113 of them. Total deaths so far: 22,013;
347,398 confirmed cases. Buckle up because it´s now accelerating more. I´ll be only out
to pay bills - have plenty of food.

Bolsonaro has big problems. 2 health ministers resigned and the position is still vacant. Justice Minister
Moro also is out and I wonder if the Economic Minister is next. There´s a plan to impeach him due to his COVID-19 mismanagement and obstruction of justice with the Federal Police due a case of his 2 sons.
Yup, he is a "Peach" over ripe and it's like a "Houseguest" after 2 days.....
2 "C"s...Crazies or Criminal.....one can pick it's "Freinds yet not one's Family".......
I won't get into BR politics, but in my opinion science overrules on mass deaths.
If the leaders pick a a person for advice, that person should have top qualifications for that office.
All elected and appointed officials, should work together. Listen to the facts and advisers and work on a plan together. Yes there will be disagreements but dividing a country is not correct.
Heads of states should be leaders and diplomates.
I believe individuals should also take responsibility. Hey you do not want to listen, fine, but respect other's rights.
