Be interesting to see if they can track protests and even Las Vegas. (Yep they opened/ Video's all crowed to check in and dining). Think I will wait...
LATAM to MIA, United to Houston or Chi town, Azul to Orlando, and Delta to ATL.
I will never fly Copa again.
ERA Air to Alaska..............
The Health Ministry again revised their way of COVID-19 reporting due to a petition made by the nation´s Defensoria Publica. So they´re now back to the original way of reporting as of today, June 8, 2020:
1. New deaths: 679
2. New cases: 15,654
3. Total Dead: 37,134
4. Total cases overall: 707,412
A lot of govt officials don´t agree - and that there are more cases not reported especially deaths at home which has skyrocketed lately.

I see the "Protest" have begun here and Worldwide, No Panic here the "Military" is Ready......
Nothing New in the "Jua".....soft opening of stores Le Biscuit , no many shoppers , I was able to enter...lol....no malls .....the bastards......
Petrolina is going through some cases us across the river are fine , just stay away from "Pet"....
Anybody got a good "Cupim Recipe"....
Hope All are Well....Getting Cabin Fever about now....yet not anxious to get into the crowd.....
Social Distancing is becoming a bad joke...the people in the streets protesting don't care......there being Jair heads..I meant Airheads......pun intended......
You must be referring to George Floyd who is changing the world. I have 2 cupim recipes
that I do every now and then.
Cupim over charcoal:
1. Season with onions, pepper, garlic, butter and Kosher salt. You can slow cook and length of cooking time depends on the size of the cupim and the temperature employed.
In the oven:
1. First step is to cook it in a pressure cooker with onions, garlic, cumin, red wine, beef broth and salt. So again it depends on the size of the meat.
2. Second step is further cooking it in an oven together with potatoes for about 1 hour. Really
very tender and supergood!

Tex, I have flown Copa on occasion, but never a good ending.
My last time I had an overnight layover. I smoked at that time and requested a visa so that I could go out of the airport to have a cigarette but they wouldn`t give it to me because I didn`t have a yellow fever shot. I told them that I hoped the mosquitoes were aware that they could not get into the airport.
As I was flying business class (big deal with this airline, sure) I went to the business lounge but they closed at 1 AM so I had to go to lay down on the floor somewhere.
Sometime later I put an unlit cigarette in my mouth and an airline bitch came over to tell me to remove it from my mouth and not dare light it up. I just told her to drop dead.
Then some military idiot with a rifle came to reinforce the bitch`s demand and since he was a man (a little one) I told him to GFYS.
I survived but I will walk before I fly that garbage airline again, that can`t even have real long haul planes.
You know that they are a Continental Airlines associate (COPA = Continental Panama).
You must be referring to George Floyd who is changing the world. I have 2 cupim recipes

Nope, it's a shame he was murdered and caught on tape , may he RIP...the guy has a criminal record....and no I will not protect a thug, living or dead.......as I said condolences to his family and life. It's ashamed for the others stood by and helped...he was on drugs that are serious fetenal (sp) so no marter,no hero...yet he did not have die that way, no one does....
I am speaking of civil unrest and the World is Ripe for "Protest (violent, peaceful) yet the "Rioting and Looting" has to cease. Trump threatened the "Military" that calmed a little of the storm....I am speaking of what's happening in Brasil.
I am not impressed with people flagrantly flaunting the Social distancing with the virus peaking...it's okay to Riot.Protest,Loot, walk hand in hand, sharing is not caring
yet if you open your business one goes to jail....
All the protestor should be arrested and fined, and that solves the BS......make them clean up the mess they made (lol)
These people in the streets have a death wish of contracting the "Novel Viris"
The "Floyd" character death, murder is nothing compared to how many lives are taken each day in the commnidade of Brasil.....
I take this virus #20 serious.......
Just a rant...going shopping tommorrow, see what's open and early...H8 crowds....kkk
I don't like pressure cooking....I am going for the "Dutch Oven" ...lol...thanks
Hey Grizz I did the "hump" once by having a strong skewer and the tip i was given was to be sure the skewer goes thru the fat layer. Helps melt that layer. I trim one end to make a flap which I use to hold the meat so it does not just roll around on the skewer
This is one of the cuts I do salt
Slow cook indirect heat side and turning skewer on all sides
Spices to your taste
With you Ron. I flew Copa also. seat broke! Unsafe but they did not care. No refund, nada. (if an emergency I would be a puppet dangling in a seat belt!)
Being booked via United, I complained and United gave me double miles.
United' lounge does not open until 1 before a flight in SP?? Have to be at the gate.
I was very surprised at LATAM's new lounge in GRU. Very nice and good foods and drinks
Yeah Yex, I kind of enjoy being away from airlines for a while.
Going back to the topic - an update on COVID-19:
1. New 24hr deaths: 1,274 . An increase of 87.62% from yesterday.
2. New cases in 24hrs: 32,913 - an increase of 110% from yesterday.
Very irregular numbers...

Probably because now, the government's numbers are being checked by the media consortium that was formed last week to compile statistics for all the major media outlets when Bolsonaro ordered the Healrh Ministry to stop publishing the daily statistics. They wisely decided to keep doing it, even after the Supreme Court forced him to reverse course. By trying to evade accountability, all he got for himself was a 100% audit every day. And higher, more credible numbers.
39 cases in last 2 days here not including the 15 that came from Curitiba. Hospitals now are warning of short supplies of beds in ICU and Virus Units. Foz and Parana Gov. are at odds in having additional patients moved to Foz.
Foz opened the tourist attractions yesterday on its 106th birthday.
Mayor now degrees all will wear masks and $R1000 fine and possible prosecution.
Paraguay's president said he would not open border until Brazil controls the outbreaks.

Agree. I´ve suspected that also because of so much irregularities of datas presented.

Cases increasing also in Novo Hamburgo. So, it´s now accelerating in the south. I can see schools earliest opening here would be October - and possible to December. Businesses almost to normal but I suspect will get back to lockdown soon...

There are now new foci states of Coronavirus in the US like Arizona, North Dakota, South
Carolina etc. So, it comes and go. God help us. It´s like global depression coming. Would I be farming now in the near future for subsistence in this troubled world?

This could be sacrilegious, but I find something good about the virus.
Those familiar with the Los Angeles traffic will understand:
This morning, at 8:00 AM (peak traffic hour) I went from Altadena, my house, all the way to Burbank (15 miles) in about 20 minutes. Once I hit the freeway 210 I set the cruise control at 65 MPH, went through Fwy 134 and Fwy 5 without ever stepping on the brakes.
I might have achieved that before, but it would have to be on a Sunday around 5 AM.
Considering how much I hate traffic, I see an advantage to the virus.
There´s now almost 113,000 deaths in the US due to SARS-CoV-2 and due to the recent resurgence of the virus to almost half of US states, a Harvard health expert has
estimated that by September the total deaths would be more than 200,000! I hope that
Brazil officials see that as a guideline...

Yeah Ron, I see your point there! But due to the resurgence I mentioned above, there was a global fall of stock markets:
Dow Jones - 6.9%
NASDAQ - 5.27%
S&P500 - 5.89%
STOXX 600 (Europe) - 4%
VIX (fear index) - up to 40 points (48%). Peak at 2008-2009 crisis was 44points.
Boeing shares down 16.4%.
So it if continues and the global stock markets crash like in 1929, you´ll be the only one driving at
freeway I5!
How´s the situation in LA?

As I said, Robal, I didn`t mean to make little of the virus situation, but I did enjoy my ride enormously.
As for the situation in LA, it seems to be calm and, other than stores requiring masks, it looks like people pretty much believe the crisis is over.
I went to a store a couple of days ago, wearing a mask but none of the people there, meaning both owners, were wearing nor enforcing mask usage.
I guess people are tired of lockdown and decided the risk is worth it.
Both the state and federal universities here, UEA and UFAM, suspended classes this semester rather than go to online distance learning, because they were concerned about the number of students who lack reliable broadband access. Now as they evaluate the ongoing threat of infection, both are revisiting plans for online learning next semester.
I had to buy 2 computers for the children i´m sending to school. The school teachers are doing the instruction on-line. Also their English private classes. The thing is once you enter into a contract in Brazil with schools, you have to pay them monthly - classes or not or you´ll be dropped from enrolment. So I still pay monthly the private English courses, swimming lessons, ballet lessons, Futsal and Judo lessons. Even their private transport I have to pay monthly even though no servicing for months now...
Universities here are doing instructions online.

Well, I broke my own rule last night. I was passing through my favorite restaurant and saw people getting in without masks. I went in to take a peek and the owner and waiters who all know me were very happy to see me. One of them grabbed my car keys and handled them over to a guy who parked my car to the appropriate parking space. I sat and waited for the "espeito corrido." Just also got tired of lockdown for nearly 4 months... I hope I didn´t get any Covid date for 14 - 27 days at least.

Update on COVID-19:
1. New deaths of last 24hrs: 909

3. Total dead: 42,720 - a 7.66% increase from June 10.
4. Total cases: 850,514 - a 10.11% increase from June 10.

We'll be doing the same when our favorite place opens next week. We've been having them deliver every week through the shutdown, but it's just not the same. 🤞🤞🤞 for all of us.
My hero's. Cases going up at least 10 or more a day here. My be due to testing, but since 14 days ago 273 cases
Staying home.
You have parking spaces Robal? Do not think another person could start my car (except a mechanic)

The spread of Coronavirus is based on two factors:
1. How Dense the population is
2. How dense the population is

Foz is really bad. Here, not yet at that level. I would stay home also in that case. I´m a heavy tipper,
so they treat me nicely. If I call ahead of time, I always have a reserve space right in front next to the door...

You mean the distribution or concentration in a designated area. Foz is almost the same size as Novo Hamburgo. Foz at about 258,532 vs 246,748 for Novo Hamburgo. Novo Hamburgo is not so crowded...

If I had the interest I would buy a piece of land in downtown and build a parking garage.
So many business open, but especially dining do not have parking, so many do not want the hassle.
Mexican place moved twice due to not enough parking, Wasn't the best but was a change of pace.
The 2 malls make a killing just because they have parking. (Even free is you buy "X" amount of the supermercado, and validate parking.
A parking lot at the center of a city is what I´ve been thinking since last year. It´s a very lucrative business and a lazy man´s way to make money. You have to have a front man to collect the fees. In a big city, there´s not many available lots for that purpose and if there is, it would cost you an arm and a leg. I´ve been researching smaller cities that has plenty of space and noting the "path to progress" so I can plan ahead of time
where to purchase. If you buy now, you´ll probably wait 20-30 years before it will be surrounded by growth and later be at the center of a big city. It´s not for me. It´s just
the thrill of it and preparing a gift to a person I really like.

Yeah, guys, I did the same yesterday. Drove somewhat far from home but went to a Jack-In-The-Box and had a sourdough burger, my favorite.
It was delicious.

I can imagine your satisfaction after all the lockdown!
Jack in the Box would be sooooooo great. BK is the best but only in the malls, so thanks right now.
I know I'm paddling against the current here but....... my household has a cook. She's been staying home for the last 86 days to care for her family while the old folk here keep hidden in our pleasant "den" to do everything possible to avoid infection, especially for my mother-in-law.
I became the cook, which didn't previously happen because the Brazilians here fancy their rice & beans, rice & beans, rice & beans with a few small detours in meals that all fall within the parameters of "comida nordestina." I like comida nordestina. I wouldn't miss a "bode ao vinho" or "a buchada" for anything. Heck, put me at a local bar where they're serving "tripa (de bode) assada com um caldo de feijoada e doses de pinga" and I'm in heaven. But I come from a university town in Wisconsin where one can go out almost every day and experience a different culture's food.
I remember my first batch of pesto. Faces all showed discontent over the "macarronada" that was nothing like they expected. I can't get these people to eat celery. What is the Holy Trinity of Cajun food? Bell peppers, carrots and celery!!! And there's no spicy anything here. Avery Island Tabasco overwhelms them while I'm used to things with wild labels like "Bite Me, Scary Hot, Bee Sting." I DID find that Fogo Mineiro (MG source) actually had some Bhut Jolokia that has a kick to it. Friends bring me maple syrup and buttermilk pancake mix but I've also had to start producing my own things (like my peanut butter - who can live without PB??). They hate PB unless I use it make a thai satay sauce for steamed vegies (only my partner will partake).
So I think that I have benefitted in this regard. Being able to get back into the kitchen has given me energy and kind memories of the diverse foodstuffs that might be available in Greater SP or Rio but are difficult to find here in the heart of the nordeste.
Texanbrazil wrote:Jack in the Box would be sooooooo great. BK is the best but only in the malls, so thanks right now.
We have 2 BK in Novo Hamburgo and 2 McDonald´s. What I really really want is KFC and Dunkin Donuts!

I can imagine the Nordestino´s dislike for macarronada with strong herbal taste. But here in RS with
lots of Italian descendants, it´s pretty common. I also cook buchada and picanha ao vinho. Sometimes paleta de ovelha ao vinho branco. You´ll like it here in Novo Hamburgo where there are lots of botecos serving diverse aperitivos. I haven´t gotten around to making my own peanut butter. I don´t like the local variety. Peanut butter and jelly... miss it. I used to make kare-kare with it.
Well when you come to PY you can find Jif and some Skippy.
Sometime I can find it in Super Mufatto, but goes fast.
Made some Menudo buchada when I finally found hominy.
Many time just buchada, but hanker'n for "hang over soup" !

Robal, when I returned to the US KFC was my first stop, even if I had visited KFC in Sao Paulo a few times.
As for Dunkin Donuts, I went over to Autozone this morning and on the back, I stopped at a doughnut shop and brought home a dozen. I really was in the mood for some doughnuts.
