I noticed the same. Whether it is just a habit or they just forget, who knows? I continue noticing my wife forgetting and reach out to shake a hand to the point I ask her to step back and hand her gel....Many get the point (although I get stupid looks from the people) but I do take it personally and do not care!
Yesterday Foz partially open some stores (still no one over 60 or under 20 allowed) with the restriction of only 30% capacity. It appeared traffic was increasing and I notice Caxias had lines with no spacing.
They have road blocks into and from Foz taking temperatures.
Bars cannot open, but the malls could. Even with 30% capacity malls, in my opinion, is a high risk, since many want to see others and the "distancing " is not really enforced!
With NO VACCINE we are not going to stop people being infected!
We're seeing a pickup in traffic too, even though most stores are still closed, and the desperate situation in Manaus is making international headlines.
I am finding myself being the "Rude Gringo" for I am sure all have seen the "WARNINGS" of "Handshaking the Touching "and the distancing. I have had to tell people about distance and the shaking of hands is out and the shoe 5 is in...lol....
This will change greetings forever and one must realize it's "Not Personal" just being cautious...The Traffic here is the same as usual, we also have the temp check point and the big box is checking temperature as one enters..We have not been Restricted by Age as of this note,.
People hack and sneeze in the open and I guess they just love attention or just like being stoopid...
Nobody in this country Washes there GD Hands....They Shower maybe 3 times a day or more and Think there Hands are Clean All Day..l...Rant#26....
Be Safe all, this reminds me of the 1st Rule of Driving "Look Out For The Other Guy"...my driving is good and my Sanitation is King....
Agree. You would think we would learn from history. "Spanish Flu" killed millions. BR had cholera in late 1800's. No clean water, blaming it on the poor and slaves bringing it in. Again million of people gone.
When a city as SP is looking for land for additional grave yards........there is a problem!!
Due to the overcrowded public health system, many people will just end up dying at home and not know what they had. This happens in NY already.
People are hoping for medications or vaccines but this is a virus that can mutate just like flu and hiv where medications can only suppress it, not cure it.
Here they relaxed some "stay at home". Now I noticed many are not abiding by the 3 meter rule and just wondering about.
Last week 2 new case from one family We now have a 10% increase in confirmed cases in just over a week.
"Be careful following the masses, sometimes the "m" is silent!"
COVID "toes" - reddish-purple or bluish lesions on toes of COVID-19 patients is now another observed symptom of the disease.

BUCKLE UP...THE "Tide is Rolling IN"....
Yes, it´s just warming up. Santa Catarina reopened shopping centers and cases rapidly went up. And we have borders with the state and can easily contaminate Parana and Rio
Grande do Sul.

There is an impeachment process against Bolsonaro percolating in Congress due to his handling of COVID-19; also obstruction of justice with the Policia Federal regarding his sons. If he also fires Guedes then the necessary economic reforms won´t be done and there would be flight of capital causing a stock market crash and the dollar´s rapid rise.
A real estate investor´s dream!

There were 407 dead last Thursday alone with COVID-19 and 300 deaths each for last
Friday and Saturday.
Friday and Saturday hurt us here. We reported the first death. Also and father and son were confirmed with the father in ICU.
Itaipu gave 1.7 million for equipment and 70 beds. Unfortunately it is a private hospital and the SUS hospitals and overwhelmed.
99% of confirmed are under the SUS system.
All started with a tourist being stricken and rush to SUS, but the ambulance continued in service w/o sanitation.
Now other than those that went to SP and returned, we are beginning reporting community transfers.
They have started opening some businesses with some restrictions. We will see.......IMO too soon. BR loves hugging.........
Oh yeah they are thinking of opening the Paraguay border!
Do the Paraguayans get a vote on that?

Stay safe and at home. There are going to separate vilas around Foz to give 800 tests. To see where community spread may be happening
As of yesterday April 30:
1. 5,017 dead, an increase of 10.43% in 2 days from 28Apr2020
2. 71,886 confirmed cases, an increase of 8.09% in 2 days from 28Apr2020.
It´s only warming up. Some states opened for business so expect escalation in cases and deaths. Sorry to say...

I know the feeling, before moving to BA, I hermited in Anchorage for 3 years, the store maybe once a week, used the car maybe once a week. With days below freezing of more than 6 months one finds entertainment and the internet was my best friend, being house bound was a way of life, the kids had a hard time being indoors and then when spring hit there injuries were great from lack of being outside...lol.. I am with two others now, and there family may stop by and I cook all the time and relax and try to keep away from myself for the warning is stay away from old people and young people. Just doing my thing, I still am the rude gringo about distance as I read today one stays away from people with the flu...so I treat everyone like I have the flu...lol..not sure how many cases here on the border of PE and BA...we are ,maybe opening May 2, as for me I am open everyday as long as there selling groceries I am shopping.. Only mask up in crowds and call it a day..shook hands with my mail carrier I had hand sanitizer.. The good thing is I do not know people to be near..it is nice the Lady and I no have to practice social distancing... Kkk

Remdesivir produced by Gilead Sciences is now approved by FDA for emergency use to treat COVID-19. Perhaps a Brazilian doctor can import that, also for emergency use.

Food Safety....for those Stocking and Buying...it's gonna get tight.....
expiration dates until "and sale until" are not strictly "expiration dates"
First, most foods do not include difficult and quick expiration dates. Instead, you'll see terms like "best for" and "sell for" before your dates. In most cases, these terms have little to do with security standards.
"The terms" best for "," sell for "or" use for "are linked to quality standards set by the manufacturer," "said Gary Weber, senior director of food safety and contamination prevention at risk management company WorldAware "They are not linked to food safety, with the notable exception of the infant formula - and even in this case, the concern is with nutritional quality and palatability."
Expiration dates indicate when a product is at its best quality - not an indication of safety.

Expiration dates indicate when a product is at its best quality - not an indication of safety.
Others agree. "Many consumers are unaware that food labels are used by manufacturers to indicate when the product is at its peak for the best taste," said Jory Lange, a lawyer specializing in food poisoning.
A "sale by" date tells the retailer how long to display a product for, and a "use by" date is the final date on which a consumer must use the item while it is of the highest quality, Lange told HuffPost. "This is also not a safety date, unless it is an infant formula," he added.
