I'm currently working in a toxic workforce in Malaysia. The company has sponsored me. I threatened to leave and they said that if I leave, immigration will detain me at the border. Is it possible for me to get my employment pass cancelled prior to leaving? Or is that an empty threat?

Even with a valid employment pass, you can still leave the country. I don't understand why the immigration would detain you for leaving with a valid employment pass. They might detain you if you enter the country without a valid employment pass, not the other way round.

If you are unsure of any issue with employment pass, you can call the Expatriate Services Division (ESD). It is the governmental agency that process employment pass. Hope you can leave the toxic workplace. It's awful that they threatened you.
