Moving to Kuwait (Science Teacher / Yoga Teacher)

sarahbelal

Hello everyone,

I got an offer to work as a science teacher in a bilingual school in Kuwait and I'm considering it but I'm very confused when it comes to some points and I'm hoping to find answers here.

1. Driving Licence:
I found some comments saying that one would be able to issue it only after staying in Kuwait for two years and some professions are exempted from that, are teachers included and would I be able to issue it a few months after I arrive?
Also, would having an international driving licence from Egypt help?

2. If I buy a car there, it will be a used one. Will it be a hassle to maintain the car in a good condition? Are used cars in Kuwait as bad as they are in Egypt (I have a feeling that it's not lol)

3. I'm certified to teach yoga and wanted to continue teaching  there. If I plan to join a studio as a yoga teacher (or teach private classes) , will that need other official papers or such, as of course I would never want to do something that is not legal and want to make sure that this is OK.

Your answers would be a huge help. Thank you.

Nationality plays a pivotal role in the amenities and benefits you might have access to here in Kuwait. Having siad that, if you already have a drivers licence from UK,USA,NEWZEALAND etc (western nations ) You will get you drivers license sooner than the assumed time you were informed about. However uou might be able to drive with it if you make the inquiries when you arrive here.

Buying a car requires good know how  which means you will need the car tested and evaluated on price basis and quality , before you pay for such and you will definetly need to know exactly  the kind of card you might need. Used cars are the best you can check the local listing here in kuwait.

Well officially you can only work with the organization that provided you a work permit, which means its illegal to work outside you contract. That dosent meanyou cant do it but you will be preety casual and not formal arrangement to avoinf conflict with the law.You can teach private yoga thats the point, you might not necessarily need any document but the organization that you work with might need to provide you some document .

i heard the rules for issuing driveing license for foreigners changed few months ago.
as far as i know , issuing license is for those who earn > 900 KD .

true that there are exempted jobs , like doctors , nurses , diplomats , pilots ...... i am not sure  if teachers are one of these exempted jobs.

regarding getting used cars , it depends on the budget ......... there are used cars in good conditions .... models of few years back ....... and there are cars in terrible condition :D ....... when you plan to buy a car , you have to take it for a check in car service like  Al-daman , or  alrmal al thabiya .... and it is better of course to check it by a mechanic expert that you trust :) .............. the same that you will do if you buy a used car in egypt .........  no difference ...
