Moving to Ireland - Non-EU spouse

Hello all!

I've been reading up on how things are managed as soon as my fiance and I plan to move to Ireland. However, the mix-mash of information is greatly confusing and I'm trying to reach out to make the best plan, with other ideas and knowledge in case it all goes wrong.

We are planning our move to Ireland in July 2021.
My fiance is an EU national and I am a Non-EU, visa-exempt national. I currently work and live with my fiance in his home nation. Due to the current global situation, we have been unable to make an appointment to move forward with our marriage but plan to be married by December, and apply for a spousal residence permit here.

Now my questions begin:
For me to join my spouse in another EU state outlined by the family reunification treaty, does he have to move to Ireland before me? Can we travel together to Ireland to find an apartment together?

Once in Ireland and settled, I know I must register, however, I would like to work as soon as possible. In personal experience from anyone, how long did it take to gain the right to gainful activity in the Republic?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Nothing stopping you travelling together.

With regards to Work Permits, I'd direct you to this Irish Government webpage that looks like fits your situation as you've described it to us.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am sharing the same feeling with you. I'm from a visa-required non EU country and now have been waiting for a month for the visa to get there with my EU spouse (which during non-covid time could takes just as little as 5 days for this visa).

The other confusing is when i ask a handful of people who was in the same type of visa if once you get there can you immediately work while waiting for the stamp 4 thing, some said yes and some said no, not until you receive the decision/the card. SO, very confusing indeed.
