Occupation permit for dependant

Your son will need a residence permit. I thought most formalities could be done online but I guess not.

Dependents of an OP or RP holder > Application for residence permit is not submitted online. Application for a dependent permit is submitted after obtention of the OP/RP of the main holder at the PIO.

Hopefully someone can confirm or provide more indepth info.

Thank you so much for your feedback, that is what i also found. Thing is i will be in SA when i get my permit so i dont know if i can do the application for his permit from here or when we are there in Mauritius? He will be staying with me there so cant really leave him behind in SA while trying to get his permit.....

Don't worry StefOlive, you don't have to leave him behind. You can complete the formalities here. Just bring all the necessary documents so that his residence permit can be processed.

So i will be taking him on a tourist visa at first? (although i know we dont need visas....)

When you arrive in Mauritius, they will stamp "tourist visa" his passport at the airport. So you don't need to complete any prior formalities. Ofcourse if asked,for verification purposes, you should be able to show documents/proofs for sufficient funds/accomodation and return flying tickets.

Just make sure that you have all the documents (originals where required) to process his residence permit (dependent).

I atleast will have a work permit, so will i need to have a return flight booked for him? cant i do his application online to start the process before we get there maybe?

The best way to go, is to do it here as it will depend on the approval of your OP. His residence permit (dependent) will be linked to your OP. The return ticket is a must indeed.
