Recently my partner who’s Romanian moved back to Bucharest and I was excited about moving to Bucharest with her as it’s a city I’ve been to many times and love, as I do the country of Romania and always enjoy venturing out in to the beautiful countryside as well the coast, however it feels like it’s going to be an impossible task to get work in Bucharest, I’ve applied for jobs and sent my cv off speculatively but have heard nothing in return , I read the blogs about expats living and working in Bucharest and apart from the envy I feel I sit here scratching my head wondering how they managed to do it, will keep Trying and keep hoping that something will eventually turn up, if anybody has any advice I’d love to hear from you any help would be much appreciated, thanks everybody

Regards

Stephen

Start a business. That's what I did.

That’s a good idea Arcadieus that was the plan, in the short term I wanted to find a job there and at the same time start up a design practice by building up a portfolio of work doing private houses, one of houses, extensions and interiors which is what I do here but it takes time to build up a reputation which is why I wanted to find a job and do both at the same time and hopefully by building a strong portfolio of projects to become freelance

You definitely need work before they'll even consider giving you a visa too. The economy here is shit too because of the virus.

Stephen, move before 31 December 2020. (Brexit day) Things will be more complicated after.

Hi SimCityAT
Yes that was the plan, as somebody that voted remain it’s frustrating that the freedom to live and work within the EU has been denied to the majority of UK citizens because of a minority of people, unfortunately those who voted to leave had the wool pulled over their eyes, the campaign to leave was purely about hedge fund companies seeing an opportunity to unstable the pound and bet its instability and make themselves millions in the process, everything else was merely a smoke screen but those that voted leave even though they now know they were duped won’t admit it. The U.K. will I’m sure  ask to go back in to the EU years down the line but it’ll be at a cost, losing the pound for one, sadly it was lose lose for the U.K. voting to leave
